He has a pretty good working relationship with Huska over the last 3 years with the Flames. He was also Huska's assistant in Stockton I believe, before taking over as the HC. The organization seems set on promoting from within and giving it's people an opportunity for career growth.
Moreover, we're likely going to be bad next year anyways, so I can't see it hurting the team in any way. That's the perfect time to experiment with rookie prospects and coaches.

Hard to get a read on this but I assume Savard wants to join Berube and the Leafs and the Flames I guess either wanted him to stay but didn't want to play hardball or they weren't overly sorry to see him go.

No hard feelings towards Savard (and can only guess at the circumstances) but it’s rather unusual that a guy basically forces his way out of town twice in such different roles/eras.

How did he force himself out the first time? He was treated like crap by the moron behind the bench and then Buttons the clown shipped him out of town.

Correct.
He was under contract so if they thought he was any good, they simply would have kept him.

Does anyone else think Jarome wants to get into the coaching side rather than front office?

.... well he can't be any worse than what our PP has had the past few years.

He was an insanely lazy player at the time. That's not excusing the terrible coach or the insanely poor value Burton gotgot for him but plenty of blame to go around.

I believe in the Jays.

Meh.
He was the coach in charge of our powerplay... our powerplay stunk.
Folk can point to the talent of the players as a culprit for the powerplay being no good but in regards to Savard all that means is that he wasn't a good enough coach to elevate the PP above the sum of it's parts. Either way this is no big loss.

At the start of the Marek Show, Jeff was walking through the show's agenda and when he got to the Savard exit, he seemed to hint that it may not be to go join Berube in Toronto. Should be interesting to see what he has to share.

The ask was the definition of polishing a turd this year and unfortunately Savard was trying to polish said turd with more turd.
Time for a new voice.

I’m probably misremembering as I’m getting old I guess. I remember him pouting after losing his top line spot to Conroy and the obvious clashes with the coach and I thought he had requested a trade. I must have been mistaken.

I remember going to an open practise once and the guy was essentially the kid picking grass while the rest of the class played football. He grew up, matured and became a great player but he wasn't an engaged player here.
Who knows what happened as a coach

Promoting internally/based on familiarity when the organization has been mired in mediocrity seems counter-productive but also par for the course.
I think the organization needs some fresh perspectives in these roles.

People are quick to throw shade at Savard, but it's possible that Savard and Huska were butting heads and Savard didn't have sufficient control to implement his preferred offensive systems. Sometimes a good employee isn't a good fit with a specific manager or organization.
Savard coached one of the top PP units in the league when he was an assistant on the Blues, and the Windsor Spitfires overachieved with him as the head coach. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on this given Huska's incredibly "meh" coaching record at all levels.

If Jarome ushers in the return of one timers on the PP I'm all for it.
Watching how slow we are to get a shot off has been a chore.
