Probably best for both sides. His PP here was awful (though in fairness he was working with limited talent). I can also see the appeal of going to work with the Leafs. If he can get credit for their PP (which should be leagues ahead of ours) it will bode well for him in the future.

I expected a lot more rejoicing in this thread! Coaching is a big part of getting a powerplay to jive, and man was that PP bad until Kuz showed up. Sometimes things just don't work, good luck to him in Toronto.

Gone are the days when a team would get a draft pick for letting another team poach a coach. Tre probably asked Conroy for permission to do this and even though it's not technically a promotion--many assistants have out clauses if they get offered a head coaching gig--Savard probably sees this as a move up to work with his friend in that media circus. I wish him luck in that I hope he finds a nice house for his family and gets paid really well, but I hope the Leafs crash and burn next year--nothing to do with Savard.

I'm guessing he probably didn't get along with the other staff, if anything. It happens, especially if your aspirations are to be a head coach, and he's matched with a guy in a higher rank but more or less the same capability wise. Happens.
