I guarantee you no one without prior oiler allegiance is jumping behind the oilers now for "canada's" sake.
Unless they are super casual and of the "go sports" variety.
No one with their head screwed on straight gets inspired to cheer for former nhl rejects/degenerates like Kane and Perry.
They're about to embarrass Canada with a swift exit anyways.

I truly think the Stars take this in 5. They can roll 4 lines, have a solid D and good goaltending. Oilers have a top heavy forward lineup and one good dman. If they bring this to 6 it'll be a huge accomplishment.

These two teams have very similar stats from the regular season.
Dallas- 298 GF 234 GA +64 goal diff
Edmonton- 294 GF 237 GA +57 goal diff
PP- Oilers 4th Stars 6th
PK- Stars 8th Oilers 15th
Shots/game- Oilers 1st Stars 11th. Shots against- Oilers 5th Stars 7th
Faceoffs- Dallas 2nd. Edm 5th
5v5 GF% Oilers 5th Stars 6th. Expected GF% Oilers 1st Stars 3rd
Two strong teams. Edge definitely seems to be leaning towards Dallas right now as Skinner has struggled in the playoffs yet again.
I think Stars win if things stay status quo.
I think Oilers win if Skinner plays average to above average, and Foegele/McLeod start to show signs of life.

That sounds like something he would say, love Boomer Gordon. He has some of the best takes.

Since acquiring Tanev, the Stars finished the season 15-4-0, the best points % in the NHL over that stretch. They've since toppled 2 excellent teams. As long as the Stars avoid any big injuries, the Oilers will need Skinner to stand on his head to have any chance.

Hoping Roope Hintz is good to go for this series.
@OwenNewkirk

Stars head coach Pete DeBoer just finished his regular
@dfwticket
appearance on
@TheHardline3to7
.
No earth-shattering lineup news, but he did say:
"I would call Hakanpää a 'no' to start the series, but a possibility as we go. And I would call Hintz 'day-to-day' right now."

Oettinger had a VERY mediocre season at 2.72 .905
In the playoffs, he's found his game at 2.09 .918
They added Tanev, and they now have their star goalie playing like the top 3 goalie in the league, that he is.
Way more depth up front. Way more depth at D. And a MASSIVE advantage in net.
What happened in the regular season is completely irrelevant (just like the record between VAN and EDM was)

The last regular season game I saw between the Oilers and Stars was 5-0 Dallas.
That pretty well checks out.

If Skinner stands on his head, he might steal one game, if Skinner plays his usual sub .800 sv%, it'll be Dallas in 4.

By the time your team has something worth getting into a barn fight about and you are actually not in a position just to win the barn fight and keep the asset you as a GM will be long gone. It is idiotic that so many teams insist on being mediocre rather than try to take advantage of teams in weak positions because of cap problems.

Didn't the Oilers feast on the bottom 10 teams, break even on the middle 10 and get dominated by the top 10 more or less?
I thought that was their season anyways.

Either way, he's going to be tested.
Unbelievable to have to wait through two rounds to say this with confidence.

The Dallas/Colorado series was entertaining. Both teams knew how to play and play with pace. They both moved the puck well and played a solid team game.
I felt the Edmonton/Vancouver series was boring. Vancouver was weak most of the series and Edmonton couldn't exploit that as well as a true contender would have.
Dallas won't play scared. They'll just play. On the other end of the ice McDavid and Draisaitl will get frustrated early. They'll get burned out because they need to be on the ice more than 30 minutes per game since the rest of the team won't pull their weight. If Dallas plays the body on those two and does it a lot then round 3 will be a waste of 8 days for Edmonton.

all this moral victories and house money talk from Vancouver and Edmonton fans is hilarious after what we have heard all year. Not to mention both traded their firsts+.
Cup or bust, Vancouver busted...Oilers turn

LeBrun says we cheaped out on getting a 1st rounder by not taking back Johansen or Ceci? That is pretty bad if true.
What good is cap space going to do for us next year if we don't use it to buy picks?
Tanev probably had Edmonton on his no-trade list, but Colorado too? I suppose it's possible but I can't imagine why he wouldn't want to go there.
Maybe the scouts really love Grushnikov; I hope so.
