I'm one of those people that hate getting rained on. I'm okay with heat and cold and I'll tolerate wind but getting wet isn't cool. It is just so uncomfortable to be sitting around in wet clothes especially if you get soaked. The worst is wet shoes and socks.

I love the rain! I remember being in England and they all carry umbrellas, they're everywhere, now that might be a bit too much but as a tourist I didnt care.

I enjoyed going to Hawaii and Tahiti and getting those epic downpours. The water is warm and...I'm a tourist, I can just go back to the hotel and change.

Besides...a little water never hurt anyone, right?

Here’s a followup question similar to Lockes point above…. Do you often carry an umbrella? I do, and I don’t understand why I feel like the only person in town who has one when it’s raining.

Why would anyone willingly be wet and uncomfortable for the rest of the day?

Edit: totally what I meant here is that I always walk around with one strapped to my back just in case it rains on a blue sky day….

I never carry an umbrella. Maybe if I'm leaving the house and it is already raining I will take an umbrella with me but I never just have a random umbrella with me when a sudden July afternoon thunderstorm rolls through with a ten minute downpour.

It rains so infrequently in Calgary that the idea of carrying an umbrella seems silly but so does the idea of disliking the rain or being worried about getting wet.

Try living in a place where, when it rains, it properly rains and does so for entire days. Then you can complain about the rain.

I hate umbrellas. Or more precisely, I hate other people with umbrellas. Learn some spatial awareness, ffs.

…. Okay well I didn’t think I needed to quantify that obvious point.

So for apparent needed clarity…. Do you carry an umbrella when it’s raining or is supposed to rain heavily. Jesus Christ.

I don't think I've ever owned an umbrella

I work for myself. So I have a change of clothes in my car and in my office, so if I get a bit wet? No big deal.

They teach you this stuff when you get your Forests Doctorate.

I just check the weather on my phone, and don't go out when it rains.

And don't ever open and umbrella in the house...it's bad luck.

I'm packing a ladder and a mirror and finding a Black cat and coming to your house. Be right there.

Dont even try that 'salt over the shoulder nonsense!'

As I said, if it is already raining I'll sometimes grab an umbrella. If the forecast calls for rain I usually don't bother because usually the forecast is wrong. Look at the forecast now, it is supposed to rain every day until Thursday and I'd be surprised if there was notable rain even one of those days.

Calgary rarely gets rainy days where an umbrella would be useful. It’s short bursts of intense rain and very rare days that drizzle. Doesn’t seem worth to have one. We also don’t have the infrastructure of umbrella stands and bags in retail / hotels so you are left with a wet umbrella once you are in anywhere.

Look at a Vancouver or a New York or places that rain and they have this stuff. Just like cold weather rain isn’t really a thing in Calgary.

I carry one. I keep it in my backpack, for when I'm going to or done with work.

12 hours is a LONG shift when you are wet, and getting rained on on the way home after 12 hours feels like some extra kicks in the twins.

Yeah so many people don't even think of that factor when they have one. I always hold it way over our heads as I walk by others, enjoy the brief rain respite as we pass.
