WTF? We already know what happens when you put brainless chuds over their heads into positions of power. We don't need a repeat. If people don't get the picture from the UCP, why would you possibly think they are intelligent enough to be turned off by these mental minnows?

Nope, liberals, progressives and centrists in Alberta see the problem. Unfortunately you're going to need to hit UCP sycophants where it hurts - in their day-to-day activities like roads, public transit, parks, etc.
Sorry, but for as egregious as Chandler and his ilk are, there are still large amounts of voters who don't look into people like him nearly enough and just see blue=good.
I'm confident you know this.

You say people are dumb but then you have faith that a Chandler-led slate wouldn't get elected running on populist values? As in, Calgarians are smarter than to elect a slate of these people?
That's quite the take about Calgary voters.

You're asking a lot of the average Calgary voter. Instead, if Chud Slate got to run the city terribly, they'd just shift the blame and deflect, and voters would believe them and reward them with another mandate.
It is tribalism at this point. Party politics at the municipal level will only make things worse. They'll run on "common sense" and "fiscal responsibility" and all that, and then do exactly the opposite with a bunch of social conservative garbage thrown in, and then run on it again, and probably win. Think "mini local UCP".

Agreed. It's totally within the wheelhouse of Calgary voters to not check the fine print when the 'conservative candidate' is just simply the obvious blue shirt wearing option.
And you'll see how well tribalism holds up when the city's back is against the wall, funds are misappropriated, corruption runs abounds, projects don't get done, Council bends over to a libertarian authoritarian Premier, and things start to fall apart for city services and financial operations based on ideology and misplace priorities.
Heck, look at the convoy clowns - they're all eating each other amidst the chaos of money management, criminal trials, and dedication to the cause.

The problem with having a slate of Chandler led conservative dummies running the show, is that no matter how bad they are, the people who voted for them based on being "Conservative" will be able to convince themselves that "Oh well, some Liberal or NDP city council would have been way worse, also, this is all their fault somehow anyway...."

Welcome to political parties at the municipal level.
And by the way, when PP wins in 2025, that wave of blue pride is going to carry over into Calgary's election.
So those who say it won't happen, I hope you're biting your tongue.

Could be interesting when our municipal taxes start to go up as a result of his housing “plan”

Also that the problems caused by "Spenshi" and Gondek are impossible to undo in just 4 years. that way, you never have to take any blame for your ineptness

I'm still flabbergasted how many Albertans would vote blue just based on tribalism... even if Marlaina and PP strip this province of democratic freedoms (Bill 20 is straight out of the third world) and drain each voter's bank accounts and give that money to their friends. It's a cult.

Honestly it is making me seriously look at moving.
Son will be going to school next year and my daughter has 1 yr left on her undergrad then she is gone to Grad school.
Just need to wrap my head around where to move.

I've said that before too, and stick by it. If there's another four years of Marlaina and her motley crew of idiots, combined with an incoming PP and his insufferable populist schlock, I'll consider moving as well. I do have an option in another province career-wise.
Which sucks too.... I love this province, but it's increasingly tiring dealing with the the angry, galvanized fringe that is for some reason getting more soapbox time.

Call me a pessimist, but the modern conservative movement has become so good at deflecting, misinformation, rage framing, fuelling conspiracies, etc. that many voters would gladly sign up for more, even when it is against their own self interest. I expect no different at the municipal level. It'll be easy to blame Nenshi, Bronconnier, Trudeau, Notley, or any other "leftist" because after all, many aren't voting on issues, they view it as a team sport.

I'm actually lucky, my current role is "in Toronto".
I can work from anywhere in Canada that has good Wifi & an airport.
