I was being tough on Oiler's fans whining about Soucy and then I saw the damage from the cross check and I realized now bad it was... Oh wait--that's just his normal face? Never mind.

I disagree. IMO, the best way to make a goalie comfortable is with plenty of shot volume.
I think the best way to get in a goalie's head is to minimize shots, don't let him feel the puck, and wait for high-danger, cross-crease opportunities. Nothing is going to rattle a goalie more than looking up a the scoreboard and seeing 2 goals on 3 shots.
Goalies get comfortable by making saves and feeling the puck. Peppering them from everywhere only feeds this. And IMO, this is part of why it seemed like we faced allstar goaltending every night, under Sutter.
See Markstrom 2 seasons ago. No shots for 3-5 minutes, then a two on one to the top line.

Exp:
Hope everyone is crosschecking everybody in the face for revenge of all the crosschecking in the face that's been going on.
Escalate! You simply cannot let Hymen crosscheck a face without crosschecking a face and you cant let McHobo, the greatest player on earth get crosschecked in the face without returning a crosscheck to the face.
Game four, go to war, crosschecks to faces for everyone! Beat the ####!

Oilers suck.
The Canucks have been relying on being opportunistic but one wonders how long they can keep winning with the low shot volume. All it's going to take is a game or two where the officials call a lot of penalties and they could be in a lot of trouble as their PK hasn't been able to slow down the Oilers powerplay.
Also, I don't see what this does to calm anything down. All it does is say McDavid has it's own set of rules.
IMO it should have looked something like this:
Zadorov gets a fine - third man in, after the whistle
McDavid gets a fine - two handed chop, after the whistle
Soucy gets a game - unintentional, but it's a stick the face and you have to control your stick
Hyman gets a game - intentional stick to the face and you have to control your stick
That sends a clear message to both teams that the after whistle stuff won't be tolerated and you shouldn't be hitting people in the face with your stick. Instead one team got the message and the other team can do as they please.
I'd rate the culpability of each player like this:
Hyman > Zadorov > McDavid > Soucy
Hyman's shot was clearly the worst. The only purposeful blow to the head that occurred. Zadorov is 3rd man in with a blow to the back. Zadorov was pretty bad, but not as bas as Hyman.
Soucy was attempting to hit the chest, but McDavid falls into his stick. Not intentional. Somehow he's the only one with a suspension. Absolutely crazy.

McDavid definitely has his own set of rules when it comes to suspensions, injuring him, and him injuring others. And it probably applies to an extent towards the whole Oilers team. Z said it perfectly. The NHL is a business, McDavid is the NHL's biggest asset and they have to protect their investment. Their biggest money-maker and fan draw. Soucy? He's sacrificial fodder. Run-of-the-mill replaceable nobody.
Can't wait for McDavid to go elsewhere. Same preferential treatment, but at least it won't be Edmonton.

Great chess playing by the Russian. He may get fined for this, or at least cause outrage. BUT the league now has to make sure that they don't overpenalize for rough stuff against McDavid going forward and also call the same stuff against the Canucks, lest they prove him right.

Do you really think they care about this? Given that they suspended Soucy and didn't even address Hyman at all, I think they've already made it very obvious and aren't really worried about appearances in that respect.

I hope the Stars finish off the Avs tomorrow night but it would be great to see the Oilers win 1 more game to take it to game 6.
Oilers lose at home tonight!
Canucks lose at home in Game 5 and the professional rioters from Surrey come out!
Oilers lose at home in Game 6 in quad OT after blowing a 4 goal led. McDavid plays 110 mins!
