Can’t wait to see all the crying and tantrums from the media and all the clowns at SN when the Oilers get bounced and another year of the wonder twins is wasted.
Worst franchise in all of pro sports, hands down. So many f’n losers on that team. They deserve nothing.

You don't have to cheer on the Canucks. I cheer for the Not Edmonton Team. That's all. Next round, I will be cheering for the Non-Vancouver team if I happen to hate that team too.
As far as the suspensions go, that's some stupidity. Ok, fine, don't give McDavid a fine, even though it was a hard slash. Nothing on Hyman, but you are giving Zadorov 5K and suspending Soucy?
Hey NHL, tell me you want this era's generational player to win a cup, without telling me you want him to win a cup.

25 years of living in Vancouver has really solidified my hatred for the Canucks, although I must admit the Kessler/ Burrows/ Bieksa era led me to take my eye off the absolute disdain for the Oilers ball, for a bit.
There is no realistic situation where I could see myself EVER leaning slightly towards wanting the Oilers to have success (this coming from a guy with a couple NHL bound nephews, that in a horrific twist off fate, could conceivably end up there).

Did Vancouver play this way all season? How do you routinely get 20 shots on net and win 50 games.
This is the strangest strategy ever.

I look at vancouver like a I do Winnipeg, or any other canadian team. Just a rivalry. Some renditions are easier to hate, like the Cooke era, or the the Kessler era. There's nothing about this version I really hate, they're just well coached and playing well as a group, so I can respect that.
The Oilers on the other hand are easy to cheer against, even if you're just a regular fan. Going back to their decade of despair that led to McDavid, and then the sense of entitlement to the extent that they get to play under different rules, just because they have the self proclaimed best player in the game -- who still hasn't won anything btw. A team so shallow they play 3 players 30 minutes a night. Throw in Kane, Perry, the smug HNIC panel, Rogers Sportsnet, and now apparently the league itself, and yeah I'll cheer for Satan before I cheer for the Oilers.

Yeah, I dislike all other Canadian teams. There are actually 2 Canadian teams that I hate, Leafs and Habs. As for Oilers, I really, really, REALLY HATE THEM.

I think the one thing that's really working in the Canucks favour is that for the most part this is a pretty likable group of players.
Boeser is impossible not to cheer for. To have the season he has had after how emotionally grueling the last few years have been for him is just amazing.

Yeah I can see how people wouldn't like Garland maybe because he can be a bit chippy... But they are an underdog team that is playing above their heads, where everyone expects them to lose. They are playing their third string goalie and somehow finding success.
I get that there are rivalries but this is just an insanely likable team if you look at the story lines. I thought they were lost when they traded Horvat but it looks like Miller has been able to change the culture to a team that thinks they can win.

Have they announced the suspension for Kane, for trying to kick Zadorov with his skate? Has to be at least 3 games right?

So...is this the fastest DOPS flip-flop in history? There's like what...10-15 seconds between similar plays they discipline completely differently?

Is there any potential that Hyman gets a suspension for this or is he protected because he wrote a children's book.
|
He's protected because he is an Oiler. You think if Hyman did that exact same play as a Leaf he wouldn't have been suspended. There is a different set of rules for anyone that plays for the leagues little darlings.

I understand the league trying to promote Mcdavid, but holy Vancouver is a large market and all we hear about are the oilers non stop. If was oilers vs leafs I wonder who would get more coverage.

According to DOPS a cross-check to the back is more dangerous than one to the head.

I really want to see Kane and maybe Nurse running around trying to get at Zadorov tomorrow night and Soucy the next. Trying to exact some revenge for touching their fairy.
I hate the Oilers and Canucks about the same. The only reason that I may like to see Edmonton move into the next round is to have a Colorado-Oilers series. I think that would be fun. And I think they'd get stomped.
