TBF, not punching a guy who is already down and has his head near the ice isn't just a code thing.

Yeah I have no issue with Tkachuk taking the fight with Pastrnak.

Don't love Tkachuk going all cave man punch to the back of the head when Pastrnak is face down. That is pretty much frowned upon in any type of combat that you don't punch a guy in the back of head when they are down.

Could tell it really made Pastrnak mad too because he came up furious after that.

Chucky, on the scrap:

Quote:
“Give him tons and tons of respect,” the Panthers forward continued. “Two guys that aren’t known for fighting, me and him. Two players that are probably known for more their offensive side of the game. … To see us out there battling at center ice in a playoff game is cool, I think it’s good for hockey.
Quote:
“Both emotional guys that are leaders for our teams and really just want to show we’ll do whatever it takes to win. We weren’t going out there to play patty-cake or anything. We were going out there to have some fun in the fight and try to land some punches, I guess. Tons of respect to him for wanting to do that.”

More from the un-mouthguarded one:

Quote:
“It’s going to be good. It’s Friday night in Boston,” Tkachuk said. “Playoffs, I mean, there’s going to be a lot of energy in the rink. Two teams that are very familiar with each other and two teams that really want to win. This is a really good series right now.
Quote:
“We’ve seen it last year in the playoffs. They weren’t too happy with us going back for Game 5 and especially Game 7. We’re used to the hatred as an away team, especially our team now with a little bit of a rivalry that’s being created here. We go and we just play. That’s what makes us good. We don’t care where we play, who we play. We just play and we have fun doing it. So hopefully the crowd fires us up.”

As for carryover, Tkachuk doesn’t expect that.

“We’ve got to try to ride the momentum of winning the last game, but in playoffs, it’s almost like whatever happens the game prior — win or lose, crazy, boring, whatever it is — it’s a clean, fresh slate that next game.

“Now it’s a best of five, and they technically have home ice now, so it’s up to us to win Friday to get home ice back.”

He didn’t punch him in the back of the head, he was still punching him in the face. Pastrnak did the same thing right back, so seems pretty square to me.

But the linesman was kind of holding Pasternak down at that point. I'm done fighting when the linesman comes in anyway because I don't want to hit them.

I don't like people hitting heads near the ice anyway.

From an entertainment perspective it’s a quote and maybe it eggs on his own team to play harder but whatever. The guy sounds like a dummy the minute he opens his mouth. I don’t personally find him entertaining. Some agitators in history have been pretty fun. This guy just sounds like a spoiled dbag.

As much as I used to like Bennett, he always looks to take the body with a few step windup and never going after the puck to be stripped off the guy. Shows me how ridiculous it is as a sport in many ways where someone aims to take the body instead of the body to take away the puck.

Not a bad first period back after missing 5.5 games!

I feel like maybe you might be better off sticking to watching baseball.

Bennett was always pretty mediocre during the regular season here in Calgary, however he always was worth his weight in gold in the playoff's. That alone is why he is an invaluable asset to any team.

Lundell just tried a McDavid but it backfired on him and they called him for holding the stick. They never call it right with McDavid though.
