No, just like a vehicle with auto lights you can still work them manually like a peasant, but why?
Because I have so many other speed options, including one that I can set different time variables for it. Ensuring efficient window cleaning with minimal squeaky noises.

I bet you also enjoy turning your lights on and off
cranking you window down then up
Found the guy that’s trying to justify a feature of his car that he secretly hates but wants others to suffer with.
No, those all make sense because my windows aren’t rolling up or down on their own, and if I don’t want my headlights on auto, I can set then to whatever I want.

Ignoring the worthlessness of automatic wipers it’s just another stupid “innovation” that provides no real life value whilst simultaneously being more expensive to fix. Yay another sensor that can die and be replaced. Boy turning that knob one or two clicks is tough. How am I even supposed to know it’s raining if a sensor doesn’t turn them on for me?

I dont like when people leave their wipers on when the rain stops.
And how hard is it? If you cant judge the speed of your wipers for conditions what are you even paying attention to?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Let's just come on out with mandatory driver re-testing every 5 years or so. And maybe accelerate that timeframe to 1-2 years after a certain age (I'll let you all fight on that benchmark).

That's dorky. Automatic wipers are generally great. You hadn't noticed rain speed increases with vehicle speed and then slows down as you slow down? I love that the wipers just manage themselves. Never had any fail and I've had them on every vehicle since 2008.

Re-testing every 5 years should be a no brainer seeing as you have to renew your license anyways. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Heck, you might even be able to get the insurance companies on board with covering some of the costs since getting crappy drivers off the road would be good for their bottomline.
I had a guy that did ... something daily in the work bathroom. I never saw it in person, but I heard it sometimes when I was in a stall. He'd have the sink water running for minutes at a time and when I came out after he had left, the counters and mirrors were full of water. Like, are you taking a sink bath or something every morning at 10am?
I'm sure it won't be long until manual wiper adjustments have to happen on a touchscreen...at which point the automatic will become an absolutely necessary feature and your car will be undriveable without it
