Is this sarcasm or positivity? Keep in mind it’s Francis so I’m leaning towards sarcasm.

It’s a story man. I’m not sure what the big deal is.
His dad is the greatest Flame ever. He is right in the range of our pick.
I am not sure what the issue is here ?
Is Francis an idiot yes. It’s a story and will be one attached to the Flames
Until we make our pick.

Not really. Go back to your drawing board.

In some ways it might be best if the Flames are no longer in Tij Territory

If Iginla is off the board by the team he steps to the podium, the ongoing debate over whether the Flames should select him is moot.

Pretty much what you’ve been saying repeatedly. The only thing you haven’t been saying is that Tij is good and might be worth taking, last name or not.

So you took one small part of what Francis said and ignored the fact the main reason for his piece was to start a panic among Flames fans Iginla won't be there to pick? Like I said, back to the drawing board.

Since most teams could easily be bumped back, for most teams the draft was a success. Only the teams at the end of the lottery has less chance of being mode back (16 had zero chance). Calgary was more likely to be bumped back as to stay at 9. For most teams, it was lottery or bust.
For example, Anaheim could only pick 3 if SJ and Chicago won the lottery.
But while Calgary had a 5% of finishing first, finishing 9th was not a bad result, as disappointing as it was.

This isn't true, as the Flames only had a roughly 25% chance of being moved back (see the odds here https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/pick_odds)
That being said, I agree with you that this is a fine result. And every team staying where they are is ultimately the fairest outcome

Not sure how you read his piece and come away with the notion it’s to start a panic among flames fans?
I agreed with most if not all of Francis article. I’m hoping a team before flames takes Iginla and an other team takes Eiserman or someone not ranked on top 10 . There are 4 dmen and one center I would like to drop to flames .

Thank you, what I meant to say is that teams had a better chance of being bumped back than moving ahead. Of course, being bumped ahead was way ahead, bumped back was just a bit.
But teams 1-6 actually had a better chance of being bumped back than staying where they are.

Why would this create a panic, it is beyond everyone's control.
While many like the idea of Iggy getting packed, I think most (but not all LOL) understand he might not be the correct pick if for the wrong reason.
I think lots hope he is available to be picked by the Flames and hope Conroy picks him because he believes he's the best choice, but not for sentimental reasons.

If the Flames didn't win the lottery today, I would have preferred Chicago actually, as I just realized that if they had won a lottery, they would be ineligible to win. This would increase the Flames chances in the next few drafts by having one of the teams finishing out of the playoffs being ineligible for the draft lottery.
However, it would really suck to have Bedard-Celebrini to play against for the next decade.
