Rick Nash is the GM. He is the director of player development in Columbus, so it is kind of strange he left Fantilli off.

Strange decisions, hard time cheering for a GM group who elected to keep established plugs over young stars.

In my sim, Coyotes won the draft lottery. I picked the following for the Flames:

#9- Tij Iginla
#29- Cole Hutson
#41- Ryder Ritchie
#64- Yegor Surin
#74- Carter George
#84- Petr Sikora
#106- Matvei Shuravin
#107- Maxim Velikov
#170- Miroslav Satan
So much fun! Won 2OA traded down with later round sweeteners, went quality over quantity.

#10 - Tij Iginla
#14 - Michael Hage
#20 - Carter Yakemchuk
#24 - Cole Hutson
#74 - Ilya Nabokov (can't go wrong with a goalie named Nabokov right?)

Dreger says that was always the plan if other players came available.

All that changes is it was a dumb plan from the start instead of just a dumb decision today.

Oh well.

Who in their right mind would rather have PLD?

Why did PLD even accept the invitation to play? The guy shows zero interest in putting in an honest effort and being a good teammate on his own NHL team...will that change when he plays for Canada?

And if it does and he has a great tournament how resentful are you if you are an LA King fan or even a teammate?

Well, it's 9th. And it's good. The Flames didn't drop.

Now we wait for 8 other teams to decide which fate we get.

I'm hoping for Helenius. Or Lindstrom. Or Catton.
Long and Short of it, I want them to snag a center.

Should be getting a good one at 9. Lots of possibilities.

I'm hoping we can get Iginla.
but Catton or Helenius would be good too.

I think Iginla will be long gone by pick 9. Too much hype building around him. Even the draft show had him top 5 (not that it means anything).

Maybe for the best. Lotsa pressure if he wears the flaming C.

I wonder if Chicago or Anaheim take Iginla at 3.

I think MTL takes Tij. I remember reading they've scouted him more than anybody.

Probably not. Both those teams could use a high end defenceman in their prospect cupboard and at least one will likely take Demidov - unless his knee injury is really, really bad.

It makes me irrationally angry that Chicago can walk out the 2 drafts with Bedard and Demidov.
