Goal suppression is absolutely equal to goal creation. Love it or leave it.
The going rate for a while has been $100k per point. So 100 points is a $10 Million player. Probably a bit more now with the cap going up.

How much is a defensive defenseman worth? The premier goal suppresors in the league. I'd cite Norris winners but that's clearly an award for offense from a defenseman. Kinda crazy that the award for defenseman still vastly weighs offense higher than actual defense.

When you can cite a $10 million defensive defenseman than you can pretend that goal suppression is anywhere near equal to goal creation.

Maybe because defensemen aren't solely responsible for goal suppression? Just a thought.

Aren’t you the one who says goalies are easily replaceable out of the minors?

Yep, that's me. There is no evidence that goaltender AAV correlates to SV%, GSAx, or whatever you prefer to use.

But they prevent goals. So they must be worth more.

Goaltenders who get minimum salary are better at their jobs than defensemen and forwards who get minimum salary.

But on your theory they should be paid more than the top goalscorers. They stop hundreds more goals than, say, Mathew’s scored.

Because they stop 60 footers from the blue line? You clearly don't understand how defensive structure works and why coaches are hired to instill that in players.

Let's see:

Boston, Swayman, 3.475
Carolina, Andersen, 3.4
Colorado, Georgiev, 3.4
Dallas, Oettinger, 4
Edmonton, Skinner, 2.6
Florida, Bobrovsky, 10
New York, Shesterkin, 5.667
Vancouver, Silovs, 0.787
Las Vegas, Hill, 4.9

Average goalie still alive in the playoffs makes $4.247, and your Vezina finalist turned 1st round pick fodder turned nothing makes $6.

Not sure what the goalie detour is

I agree with everybody finding whatever flaws they can in Tij’s game

He’s been doing well but he is not perfect. If I was a team drafting 1-8 I would take someone else for sure

What I don't understand is your theory that stopping goals is as hard as scoring them. If so, the highest paid player on any team whould be the goalie. Except, according to you, replacement level goalies are just as good.

No one is talking about Markstrom here. Just your inane theories.

Fine, then show any forward or defenseman that makes $10 million per year because of their ability to suppress goals. If not, then goal creation and goal suppression aren't equal nor are they valued the same by any franchise or organization.

Tij with a goal and two assists in the gold medal game
McKenna with two goals and an assist

US was dominating the game, but only up 3-2 with 10 minutes to go.

But Connelly gets a very dumb 5 minute major for head hitting, and Canada scores a quick 3 goals.

But States make it a 1 goal game with 4:24 left.

Tij is so good. He's got power, speed and fitness. Apple does not fall far from the tree. He's the guy we should 100% draft. Just hope he's there when we pick.

Time to use the Vancouver pick to trade up, methinks.

Shocking that some people continue to say he is not a top 10 pick. Pick him. PICK HIM!

Iggy looked great all tournament, looked great in the third period. McKenna is the real deal for sure.

Although without Carter George in nets, the game is well over before the third even started.

Hard to imagine teams trading back until they at least see who is available. And that would be only if they don't want to pick Iggy.

For some reason, it wouldn't shock me if Chicago picked him if they fell to 4th as a line mate for Bedard.
