Looks like Leafs will have a boatload of money - $34M from what I can see from Capfriendly. So they'll have a ton to spend on whomever they want (that figure includes their LTIR folks).

37 year old Reaves got a 3 year contract....wow.

They gave up every day player and solid bottom six player, Sam Lafferty, for the pleasure too.

Asinine really. Hockey loves it's big talkers. The first interview after he signed he talked about being the guy to throw parties and invite the full team. That's leadership in hockey circles.
Anyway, just looking up the UFAs available this year and there are a lot of guys who can transform a lot of teams' fate this year.
Reinhart
Stamkos
Guentzel
Marchessault
Pavelski
Jarvis
Gostsibehere
Lindholm
With the amount of money they have available I could see them making a run for Gostisbehere who apparently they've coveted a long time. Marchessault seems like another guy they'd love for speed and determination, while also resigning Domi for the bottom lines.

If leafs D is as suspect as people say, has Brodie's game fallen off that much? Or did he just project a better game in cgy?

They have 5 D men signed, only one of which is any good.
Their top 4 forwards (almost all their offence) make 11+ each except for Marner who makes 10.9. Bertuzzi and Domi are UFAs. They only have one goalie signed.
They have room but not to sign a lot of good players.

Leafs have 18.5 million to get 7 players. Players they need to replace or sign that played in this series include Bertuzzi, Domi, Dewar, Gregor, Lliijgren, Edmundson, Lybuskin, a backup goalie.

Listening to a podcast they mentioned that BrisBois in Tampa might be wanting to shake things up. Cooper's been coaching there forever. I could see the Leafs pulling out all the stops to get him if he was ever available...

Marner has a full no-move and he's a Toronto boy. He doesn't seem like the type to waive it for the good of the team either.

Ok, they lost in the first round yet again. Who's gonna get fired, the president, the GM or the coach?

Leafs have done enough for Marner. They tell him to submit a list of teams he's willing to go to or he can play on the 3rd line. They've overpaid him, no reason to go out of the way so he can put up big regular season numbers on this team.
