It was an absolute ghost town until about the NHL all-star break last year…

Their midweek games still give ghost town vibes for sure, but the Friday-Sundays often have the second bowl opened up.

How does Calgary line up AHL-wise for average attendance?

Are the Wranglers considered a 'success' by AHL standards?

I am genuinely curious.

https://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attenda...L1941&sid=2024
Calgary averages 4,101.

To compare, Cleveland: 10,347. San Jose: 2,116

They’re in the bottom 1/3 of the league and below the AHL average… but I feel the better comparables are the other teams that share a building/city as the nhl club.

If you follow the AHL stats, they average 4000ish, however still always looks empty. My row sometimes me and my buddy are the only ones in it, but all of the seats are "Sold" when I looked at the playoff tickets a lot of sections were completely sold out.

I would like to see a bigger push put on to let people know there is playoff hockey, there doesn't seem to be any marketing behind this at all, nothing to get people excited to go. I think even if they did low priced tickets most of the general public/casual fans wouldn't even know about it, so then same attendance with a lower gross.

The Fan 960 boys were really pushing it this morning. It was their open segment at 6:00 am. Backlund will be in he studio this morning promoting the game. I will be there, should be be fun.

HOLY MOLY what a game, best game I have seen all year.

Klapkas goal was awesome, and the game was rough but not sloppy, huge hits, great goals and the loudest crowd for the Wranglers yet.

I think the Wranglers played as hard as I’ve seen in that 3rd period, literally everyone was hitting everyone in sight… if a Coachella player had the puck on their stick… they’re getting hit.

Did Poirier get benched after that giveaway at the end of the second? I didn’t notice him much after that.

Just watched the game highlights and man, I had to look up who #15 was on the Wranglers because he sucked....he sucked in a highlight package!!!

Turns out, it's Jordan freaking Oesterle.

How he is on the 1st PP, I will never understand… maybe as motivation for Poirier who hasn’t been the same since his injury

I honestly think one of the biggest hurdles the wranglers have for selling tickets is how they constantly withhold the more desirable 200 level seats early-on.

It’s like they’re in a constant game of chicken with their fans. They want them to be happy with row 23 in the corner of the lower bowl, while others are waiting for the lower second level seats to become available.

Opening up the second level has a huge cost associated with staffing, security, etc. They will only open it up if the cost of doing so makes sense.
