I mean in a whole. Feels like Vancouver could go on a run. I think he is a good goalie with a good attitude.

No, you need to be paid $6M+ and be a proven goaltender™ to even enter that discussion.

I hate the Canucks as much as the Oilers.
The only good thing this series does is eliminate one of these shartbag teams.
Then the other can go out in round 3.
How any self respecting Flames fan could cheer for either is beyond me.

Meh. We know it'll be all for naught for whoever the winner is.
In a way, it makes all that more delicious. Just have to delay our gratification for the real payoff in two weeks.

This is a great point, but I mean if you're watching you have to hope one team loses, don't you? Or do you just laugh at every goal that goes in and every save that's made?
Bright side: at least we'll all be on the same page in the next round.

Shoot, I'm gonna say this is an Oilers sweep if Demko doesn't return.

You don't need outstanding goaltending to beat the Oilers. You just need a goalie who won't let in horrible goals at key times like Talbot and like Rittich did the first goal in game 5.
They're going to get powerplays and they're going to eventually score so just make sure you don't give them a freebie. You're going to have to make a big save sometimes but every goalie needs to no matter who they're playing.

Also, Edmonton is trash. Anyone who cheers for them is an Oiler fan first. No actual Flames fan would debase themselves in that way.

Can we choose Vancouver for the obvious reason without complimenting them? That's just gross and unnecessary.

If the Oilers were playing a series against a team that had Hitler, Mussolini, Trump, Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Pol-Pot as their starting line-up, I'd be cheering for a Team Hitler victory. Cheering for the 'Nucks in this round is easy-peasy.

This should be another good series. In fact, all Round 2 series are shaping up to be great.
How did Lindholm look in round 1?

Thing is though just because you have a good or bad series doesn't mean it's going to be the same the next.
Not many people expected the Flames to take the huge dump they did against the Oilers in 2022 after how they dominated Dallas most of the series but they did.

The reason you cheer for the Nuck's is easy, no team should be rewarded for 4 nos 1 picks

Although this is true (and I'm also cheering for the Canucks), it's worth noting that a Vancouver series win also lowers their own 1st from ~25th to 29th, at the highest. Kinda evens it out.

I am worried about this. I could absolutely see Bettman telling the refs to start calling more infractions after watching the first round… the low shot volumes, the low scoring and the predictable series outcomes made for for a terrible first round. His solution will be more penalties = more scoring. Unfortunately, this plays into the hands of the Oilers.
This series, just like any series with the Oilers, will be decided by the refs. If they stick to playoff hockey and don’t call every ticky-tack play… this will go to the Canucks. If there are more than 7 penalties per game, the advantage shifts to Edmonton.
The problem is that the league/refs will consider it fair if they give the Canucks the same number of powerplays as the oilers in each game. But the problem is that the oilers are a team that is built to win exclusively through powerplays. Every series they ever play (even the ones against be kings that they constantly win), the oilers get dominated at 5-on-5. It’s the reason they get worse every round they get through in a typical playoff… there are fewer and fewer penalties in each round and the oilers get caved in at 5-on-5.
This is a unique year where penalties were down in the first round and so was scoring. Bettman will make the refs call more powerplays which tilts things in Edmonton’s favour. I think every team should have to go through the same grind as other teams that have won cups/made the finals in years past. It should be a grind of playoff-style hockey… not a game of diving and powerplays. Which, unfortunately, is what I’m expecting in this round.
