How many are there in each case?
Penalties have actually increased in the playoffs last 10 years during the playoffs in comparison to the regular season.

But that doesn't tell the whole story

I'm still angry about officiating. There were numerous neutral parties who commented after last night's game.
I'm not on the conspiracy bandwagon, I just hope whichever official made the embellishment call has worked his last playoff game.

Update: It was a Kings penalty.

In a game where the Kings had 61.45 CF%, the Oilers had a 5-1 edge in powerplays.

99 points - Lost in Round 1
104 points - Lost in Round 1
99 points - Lost in Round 1

The last 3 seasons for the Kings have more or less ended the same. Even if Byfield really takes off as impact player, I don't see enough in the system for the Kings to get better.

It is funny though, outside of Quick (and that is a big difference), this iteration of Kings teams don't feel that different than the Cup winning teams from 10 years ago.

Those teams didn't score a ton. They played very structured defensive hockey. Got in the playoffs with around 100 points.

Being the Kings GM would be low on my list of preferred jobs. Outside of signing some overpriced UFAs, I just don't see how this team is going to drastically improve.

They are going to get a lot worse when Doughty and Kopitar retire. I supposed they are positioned to take a run at McDavid but outside of that the future isn't nearly as bright as it looked for them a few years back.

Not sure what was worse to be honest - the obscene reffing or the 0/12 Kings PP against a team with literally no defense and goaltending.

The claim was that they decrease over the course of the POs. In other words less are called in round two, etc.

This seems right to me, and much like all the times in regular seasons where they crack down in the beginning on a particular penalty but ease up over time.

When Walsh is calling out the reffing you know it was fishy.

Even the last day of the regular season, getting the Oilers this favorable matchup.

Anything to get McMickey into the Finals.

Walsh, and others.
It's incompetence, not conspiracy

The game prior they got 13 shots on net and 1 pp. LA had 35 shots on net and 1 pp. How does that make sense? It's as if they got the Oilers the goal and put the whistles away because the Oilers never made it back to the offensive zone.

I mean LA is truly one of the most shameful teams of all time, but they also got jobbed by the refs and Gary.

It's incompetence...but in the modern era I don't trust that some of the refs aren't betting on games.

The average ref salary is ~200k USD...and my guess is they have outside influences offering them a lot more to influence games.

Too much visbility to who the refs are, too easy to access sports betting, and probably easy enough for a ref to hide it if they wanted to.

Too much money involved for me to just think that it's not happening even once.

Yeah its very fishy. Also NHL and NBA refs can influence a game a lot more than say a NFL ref.

With all the gambling, and NBA refs and players getting caught, and in some other instances of betting going on its hard to trust.

What do you expect when all the leagues are so deep into gambling, gambling ads now. Everything is a bet now. 10 dollars on who wins the opening faceoff.

Who is better matchup to heat the oilers? Nashville or canucks?

Without Demko I would almost lean nashville.

Mcdavid embellishes more than any superstar in recent memory and he's elite at it.

Anytime he feels any contact he flops but he does it in a way where it's not so obvious but done so to get the attention of the refs.

He's a true loser who will never win anything.

Nashville if it's called fair like a normal playoff series - but you know that won't happen.

In the regular season. That's why they would beat Nashville if the series is called like the regular season. If Nashville is allowed to slow down the game without being penalized they have a chance.

I think Vancouver has the best shot at beating Edmonton.

It's just hard to feel confident with either team at the moment with how ass they have both been.
