Chuckie has named Garcia starting QB.

He is not going to be dealt because he has a no trade clause, but he will be released. He stated he won't let them trade him to anyone...

yet they are not dropping them. This makes KC look like they are player friendly.
This to me is much worse than the handling of Trent Green. They won't let him practise, but they won't release them.

What has Tom Brady been smoking?
From MMQB:
Quote:
You'd think Moss would be running the deep post, not Welker, and you'd think Welker would be running the short curl, not Moss.
"I think we're going to be really versatile,'' Brady said. "I think this is a group of guys who can be different and do different things and who I think are going to fit in because they're unselfish. That's what we've developed here.
|
That is Randy "I'll play hard when I want" Moss being called unselfish?

I wonder if that means that Chris Simms is done? He wasn't particularly the most efficent passer. But he is as tough as nails. His dad started off very slow and looked like a bust as well. It sure is a tough position to play.

I think so much depends upon the O-Line and running game for a young QB that teams may give up on good QBs. I see them as kind of like goalies. There are many positions that players need to mature into and just because a QB at ages 21 -24 hasn't lit up the league doesn't mean he can't be a great QB. Rich Gannon springs to mind.

Steve Young, Trent Green, Doug Flutie to name just a few others. And look at the Hall of Fame QB's that struggled early in their carriers. Johnny Unitas, Len Dawson, Terry Bradshaw, & Roger Staubach. It makes me wonder why no teams would take a chance on a David Carr or a Joey Harrington or even a Tim Couch. Did any of these young QB's ever have a decent O-line? Did any of them have a running game? It all makes a differance.

No doubt, do players like Ben Roethlisberger, or Phillip Rivers do as well as they did if they didn't have smart offensive co-ordinators, good running games, and terrific offensive lines in front of them? QB is a position where you handle the ball every play so you're under the microscope all the time. But at the same time it's one position that requires more support from your team mates than any other position in the game.

I'm very interested to see how Rivers and co. do this year after all the changes to the coaching staff. I'm not convinced they are the elite team they were last season without Cam Cameron.

Me to, but Norv Turner has always been a good offensive and specifically QB friendly coach. I think he'll thrive with Turner, having said that, I hope the football gods pound the Chargers this year for how they did Marty.
I'm not going to be able to chant "MAARRRRTTTEEEEEE" at bronco games anymore.

Norv hasn't been able to translate his talent into success as a head coach though. His QB's have struggled when he was the big cheese.
I think Rivers is a great player...or will be if he isn't already...I don't want to sell him short....but they don't have a lot of talent outside.
Take away Gates (no small task) and teams might have a lot of success containing LT.

It's hard to take away a deep threat TE and a RB, once you put a safety on the TE the opportunity for big runs opens up.
I think Norv has been in brutal spots as a HC. He had no choice but fail in Oakland and Washington. No excuses if he fails here though.

I think that Smith will have a breakout year. I plan on drafting him in the fourth round or later in my fantasy drafts.

Yep, that's going to be one tough division IMO. Can't see Arizona NOT being vastly improved as well.

The Broncos have traded a 2008 pick for Rams DL Jimmie Kennedy.

But that has been said for what, the last 4 seasons? This is the classic example of a weak o-line affecting the entire team. The Cardinals have some success because they have a great WR corp, but with an o-line to establish a running game they could be downright deadly.

That division has more often than not been one of the weaker divsions in the league.

Just saw on the ticker on sportsnet that Pacman Jones was cleared of any charges with that strip club deal after it was found he had nothing to do with it...wasn't he suspended for this?

I don't think it was this one thing as much at the 7 visits from police he has had in the past 2 years, even after he was warned to keep his nose clean.
