Cannot forget his excellent work on Freaks and Geeks. Some great scenes and lines.
Maybe it's the CanCon force feeding of content, but I used to enjoy Maniac Mansion. Notable breakthrough part for Kathleen Robertson of 90210 fame.
I just looked her up on a whim....she's 50 years old. I'm getting so goddamn old now it scares me.

I always saw Joe Flaherty as an unsung hero/glue guy for SCTV - he didn't reach the heights that John Candy or Catherine O'Hara did, but he was consistently funny and his characters were understated but vital.

ALL ABOARD!
This might be appropriate elsewhere but fits here too. Sandler did the Dan Patrick show to talk about Happy Gilmore 2.
At the 3 minute mark he talks about the people who have passed that can't be in the movie anymore, even though he started writing it when they were all alive. He mentions Bob Barker, Carl Weathers and Joe Flaherty were all in the script when they started writing it. A little bitter sweet to know they won't be in it.

This is a big loss for the music community. He engineered some great albums. And I love his bands Big Black and Shellac.

Damn, that's a shock. I'm a huge fan, one of the few rock producers who had dignity and ethics. Has there ever been another producer who actually turned down points on a record? Even though he was producing, he considered himself an engineer first and didn't think it was right to continue getting paid for a job that was already completed.
The guy was incredible.
