They just don’t have the talent to generate top-end chances, it seems. They scored 3.1 goals per game in the regular season, which is good for a 16th/17th place tie.

Their system seems to reflect this lack of offensive talent. It’s a bunch of good players, but the top-end of their roster is ageing out and their next wave isn’t quite there yet (Byfield took a step though). Horrible acquisition of Dubois won’t help either - it’ll be interesting to see if that was a fatal misstep.

Oilers are lucky the Kings can't score, as they're having all kinds of difficulties with them and have been badly outplayed. I take comfort in knowing that the Oilers will likely get smoked by whoever they play next.
