Default Cranston vs. Evergreen vs. Auburn Bay

I am currently looking for a place and have found these three to be the areas of choice for me...

All three have there pros and cons...

Which area would you choose to live in?

Just got a place in Cranston.

I looked at all 3.

For price, location, and overall community, I really liked Cranston.

We just bought a house in Auburn Bay that is currently being built. Obviously that was our choice and mainly because of the Lake. I grew up in Lake Bonavista and having that feature in the community was AWESOME. Playing hockey, tobogganing, and skating in the winter, swimming and fishing in the summer. Not to mention basketball, tennis etc... It doesn;t get any better for a kid growing up.

We are currently in McKenzie Towne and love it there but the lake is what made us make a move. My Dad currently lives in Evergreen which is a great area. Just seems too far away for me. At least with Auburn Bay and Cranston you are right on the Deerfoot. Cranston is a nice are as well and a lot more developed than Auburn Bay.

For my money the lake is a great feature that sets Auburn Bay apart. If you don't mind being in a developing area for a few years it is going to be an great community.

We have our place up for sale in Cranston right now, as we are building in Evergreen.

In terms of accessibility, I'd say Cranston is better at this point. Access to the Deerfoot is excellent.

I've lived in the Evergreen area before, and getting out of there can be a nightmare sometimes. Should improve once they get around to expanding 37th street.

We looked at all those places before our recent move and finally decided on Auburn Bay.

1) The lake and amenities it provides are fantastic...

2) Evergreen was on the wrong side of the river for me and work via 22x...

3) Cranston is maturing nicely but so have the house prices. Auburn Bay looks to develop in a very similar manner so getting in early in the development seemed to give us the best growth potential...

4) The "Lake Fees" kinda suck but when you consider what you get for it, it;s not so bad. That being said.. even in cranston there are fees for the community association (Second hand info from a friend who lives there, and might only be for a specific part)

5) Hospital and associated buildings are going up right beside the entrance to Auburn bay... So... Maybe a traffic issue?... Maybe make the place even more desirable?... Who knows jury is still out on that one.

6) Juice lives there so, maybe you'll get to hang out with him on the beech ...

We looked at lake areas like Auburn Bay and Chapparal before choosing Evergreen and overall we found that the Lake Access wasn't that big of a deal to us because we would barely use it and there is a fee. Anyways after searching for homes and looking at far too many we found that Evergreen Homes were more open and had far better light then the Auburn Bay homes (obviously if you're building your own home you can change that). If you're looking at purchasing a home that is fairly new go with Evergreen or Auburn Bay I find the Chapparal homes to be rather old looking and trust me when I say this we looked at far too many.

MY CHOICE: EVERGREEN

Another thing I've never met nicer people then I have in Evergreen, as soon as you step out of your driveway random people wave at your or stop to talk, and they are not even out neighbours.
