Silence and kids is the scariest thing ever - you know something's up!

But I was more referring to the explosion of "tween skin care"... Sephora gift cards have unseated Indigo as the go-to birthday present request for our girls. When my wife is feeling lucky (or bold), she gets to "try" some of our daughters' products hahaha

If you really wanted to decrease your expenses, you could downsize from a detached to a condo, and probably have no mortgage. That flexibility only comes with being single. I have constant pressure to upgrade to a place with more space. With a 3 year old and a baby on the way, at 43, I'm not going to be an empty nester until 65+. Then I have to prepare for expenses like post-secondary tuition.

My job is fine, salary is decent but out of all my friends and most people I know I'm making way less. That's why I have to work sidejobs during evenings and weekends from time to time, it's exhausting and sometimes I get annoyed that I have to put in so many hours and bust my ass. Oh well.

Bought 10 years ago, have done all renos myself. I'll likely sell and downsize when I'm older.

I'm only now starting to realize that my absolute lack of work-life balance in my 20s is going to make this a bit more of a challenge than it probably should be. I've missed out on 10 years of dating experience so I'm trying to make up ground.

Unfortunately I don't have any advice to give, I married my 2nd girlfriend.
But things have probably changed enough you're not that far behind missing out on 20's experienced.

Nope. Women do $500 haircuts/colors all the time.

Thankfully my wife doesn't but lots of her friends do them once every 6 months or so. Which isn't bad considering a guys haircut is like $45 every 2 weeks. So we probably end up paying the same over the year.

Wow! This was quite the read. I’m just thankful that I’ve literally been budgeting since I was 12 and had a paper route.

A haircut every 2 weeks!!??
Seriously?
No man… for real?

I’m at around 8-10 weeks between cuts and I have all my hair. Yeah it gets a bit shaggy and should be cut around 6’ish weeks. But 2 weeks? Maybe it’s super short in which case can’t you buzz it yourself or go to a cheaper place? Unless you have coin to do this…

Yeah....how is that weird? Your hair doesn't grow out every 2 weeks? My sides stay at a 1 so every 2 weeks it is.

So you started a thread about how you’re struggling to pay to get your haircut every two weeks?

Is that the gag?

Never said I was struggling to pay anything. Living comfortably and getting a haircut every 2 weeks. While some people like to spend money on alcohol and tobacco I like to get my haircut every 2 weeks! It's not as uncommon as you think for people with short hair. I know some guys who can not go for haircuts for 3 months but that's not me. My hair is short and I keep sides short.

Women colours are even crazier. I've dated 2 salon owners and we'll, they do quite well for themselves with what they charge other women for service.

Ridiculous

There is no way you hair grows enough in 2 weeks to warrant a hair cut.

To keep my frohawk/high top fade it's absolutely every 2 weeks to stay looking sharp, but my haircuts are $20-$25. I feel there are far worse things I could be spending $50/month on.
 That's for afro-type hair though.

Omg hair is wasted on you. You're just fricken cutting it like you're bald.

The things I'd do if I had that hair.

Bro it is a pain in the ass

My hair is so ####ing thick, if I let it grow it doesn’t grow long it grows big.

I didn’t cut it for all of grade 12 and it was a massive blonde Afro!

Honestly it is a struggle.

You started this thread and called it “How is everyone dealing with their finances in this economy?”

Claim to spend $30k a year on groceries. $8,000 a year on baby formula. Haircuts every two weeks. I get the feeling you’re having a laugh.
