Maybe the Oilers have used all their luck? Maybe the Kings have lost to the Oilers enough and they're due?

Maybe the Kings need a goon to some leg breaking?

I dont know what it is, but goddammit Kings...just win.

Because as another poster said, if the Oilers win, this structure just gifted them a road to the Conference Finals paved in Gold.

The Oilers should win this easily, but if we're going to grasp at straws for optimism:
 - Shawn Durzi is no longer a King. Oilers used to clown that guy in playoffs.
 - Quentin Byfield is on the verge of superstardom. Hopefully this is his coming out party.
 - Kings are healthy after a lot of injuries this year.
 - Drew Doughty is playing as well as he's ever played this season.
 - Despite the history of Talbot and Rittich, I'd say they're both playing great hockey this year and the numbers bear that out.
 - The Kings suffocating style is terrible to watch and it could just be the frustration tonic needed to stifle the Grease.
 - The Oilers power play isn't all-world this year. Still dangerous, but not as automatic.

Not expecting a Kings win, but sure hoping for it.

PLD could be factor, he had an amazing playoff in the bubble.

I would say to the Cup Final - whoever comes out of the Central will be beaten up and might not have much left in the tank.

I think Kings will play them tough as always, wouldn't be surprised to see them split in Edmonton and maybe even have a 2-1 series lead. But ultimately I think the Grease will win in 6. They're very lucky they didn't land Vegas first round.

The big wild card in this series is how do the refs call the games? Regular season infraction calls vs. playoff infraction calls.

I am assuming you're talking to me, but I wanted Vegas because I think the Oilers would have been at the top of their game trying to get redemption. I am a little worried about the Oilers thinking they should roll over the Kings and then taking them lightly.

Plus Vegas really isn't all that good. Button was on the radio and said if you take away their 11-0-1 start and Flames 4-7-1 start they have a similar record. (think Vegas is 5 games over .500 and Flames is 4 over .500)

No matchup is going to be that easy really though

I wouldn't think too much of it. Guy was tapping in empty netters from a guy who is the 5th person ever to record 100 assists in a season.

Iggy was scoring 50 goals with scraps like Marcus Nilson and David Moss.

This is like when Cheecho potted 50 and was out of the NHL in a few season.

It was also the dead puck era. No one had 100 points. Sakic had 79, Jagr had the same. Iggy's 52 goals were 11 more than anyone else.

Yeah that as well. You can literally see guys draped on his back when he is scoring goals.

Heck his 2nd goal in game 7 vs Vancouver he was being mugged to the ice.

Also makes what Crosby did earlier in his career even more impressive.

A 22 year old Crosby today would be interesting to see.

I find the first round is called very strictly. Oilers will get a lot of PPs.

Yeah I was referring to your post and what you say is all fair and logical. But I don't think anyone should be underestimating Vegas either. Especially considering they've proven to have the formula to beat the Oilers while the Kings absolutely don't, while also looking pretty underwhelming themselves over the course of the year.

PLD and goaltending is the key here. Kings have better depth but are short on the top end talent. PLD needs to play well and play physical too

They will need some saves though, that part is a big question. They get good goaltending, they can win this. Big IF though.

Kings you ####ed up everything. Why couldn't you just roll over and take the wildcard.
 Idiots!

They must like getting pounded by the grease.

Lol, Vegas f'd it up. Kings did exactly what they wanted to do. Stay out of the central. Oilers are a dream first round of matchup compared to Dallas.

			Oilers in 5.

Kings ain't it, Chief. I would have had Vegas in 6, but Oilers know how to beat the Kings. They've done it twice. Kings system gets chewed up by speed. That and soft goaltending are going to be their undoing... again... for a third straight season. Sigh.

I hope for that everyday already.

I want McDavid smashed. Hard, clean, and frequent hits.

Draisaitl I want a super dirty play to take him out. I don't feel bad about it either. He has earned that Karma.

I think Danault is the key. He's the guy who is going to be tasked with McDavid.
