She was most definately chargerd with DUI..which started this whole debacle. It was while this case was ongoing that she was arrested again for driving with a suspended license, and THAT is why she was given jail time, not for the DUI.

I can't believe that there are people on this board who are buying into her publicists' spin that she is being mis-treated.
She violated her probation. There are consequences. Deal with it.

Actually she was convicted of Alcohol related reckless driving, not dui. Although I have no idea what the difference is. I had thought she was convicted of just plain ole reckless driving...

I don't even know what her publicist is saying. I'm just saying that she is being treated more harshly than if you or I would have been put in a similar situation.

I have zero problem with her getting jail time....that's par for the course for anyone in the same situation.
What I dont like about this is that its also regular business for the Sheriff's office to release prisoners early for such offences. She was just being treated the same as anyone else in this respect, but because of her celebrity, the judge involved overruled what is a daily occurence.
Thats why I say she is being treated differently than average jane in that she was oredered back to jail because of who she is rather than being let out early like happens all the time in LA county.

well actually the original sentance, if I remember correctly, was that house arrest was NOT an option in this circumstance. The sentancing judge made that very clear. Therefore the Sheriff's office does not have the discretion to send her to house arrest.

Well the original sentence was more harsh than the judge usually gives in this situation. And the judge could have made that stipulation in a much more serious case than a driving on a suspended license. I guarantee you there are violent offenders getting out of that same jail to serve house arrest early why not make them sit it out. Paris is being treated more harshly because of her rep...

Very true.
They had some guy on one of the news networks last night that delved into this judges history of sentencing in similar situations.
The norm was 10 days...released in 2.

Keep in mind that Hilton originally spent ZERO days in jail for her offense. So if the judge usually give people 10 days and they are out in 2, then Hilton was still let off easy.
She then went on to break her probation not once, but TWICE - all the while adding new offenses to her record. That is why she was given the sentence she was.

People are generally given 0 days for the offense she committed. The ten days of jail time was what people were given in her exact situation of breaking probation.

Breaking probation twice though?
And not just breaking probation, but breaking the law twice again, as they are not the same thing.

Ms. Hilton's path to jail began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night run to a hamburger stand.
She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.
In the months that followed, she was stopped twice by officers who discovered her driving with a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Judge Sauer's courtroom, where he sentenced her to jail.

Which proves what I was saying.
She was NOT drunk the the first nor second time she was arrested for driving while suspended...
Which is what I was responding to when H&L said this..

She is in jail for driving on a revoked license, not DUI.

On Friday she trembled and cried quietly throughout the hearing, then broke into loud sobs when the judge ordered her back into custody.
"Mom, Mom. It's not right," she wailed as she was led out of the courtroom. Her mother, Kathy Hilton, also sobbed.

Christ sakes. Nobody wants to serve jail time, but for the love of god its 45 days not 45 years, suck it up princess.

I've seen many of people break down into tears that were getting arrested for petty things. Also she probably has some mental issue, thus the fact she isn't eating or sleeping right now.
