Is Haula a bad contract? 3.1 caphit, two straight 40 point seasons and at 35 this season. Mercer will be looking for a raise but Haula probably better for them than Marino or Siegenthaler, who make more and are having worse seasons.

Man I'd love to know for certain what the highest offer the Devils put on the table was.
I have a feeling it wasn't very good, yet sadly it was probably the best offer Conroy will ever see.

Yes on the Andersson trade, I’d love to see that trade happen.
I imagine that NJ trade would have to include Vancouver’s 1st. I can’t see a world where Markstrom returns a 10th overall pick, that seems like pure fantasy.

No they won't. They wanted to be a playoff team this season, but their fall from contention changes how they approach things this draft now.
Also, it was rumoured that this years first likley wasn't included in the Markstrom trade (it was likley a 2nd + roster player or 2025 first + roster player), so they're certainly not paying their first this season now that it's a highly valuable top 10, even if low first from Van is included.

The key to getting value for Markstrom is retention. We know NJ likes him. There's reason to believe he is their clear preference. If they get him for 3 mil/year, you'd have to think they'd move the '24 first. The question is... Is Murray on board? I have no idea. The thought of drafting Iginla might loosen his wallet a bit though. We can dream.
