Lol, classic Staples. For a team that’s blown 8 years of prime McDavid/Draisaitl and hasn’t won anything in decades, the arrogance is astounding.

Easily the most embarrassing franchise in pro sports.

How many clubs would go 8+ years with McDavid and not see a division title, conference championship, finals appearance or cup.

Edmonton are elite opportunity-botchers and they got the biggest handout of futures in recent memory.

One's head has to be buried deep in the sand not to see/acknowledge just how little there is to actually boast about if you're Edmonton. The ineptitude most certainly has persisted, relatively speaking. No matter what they've done with the team, they continue to remain in the shadow of several other teams doing it that much better.

Podium champagne guy describes their media to a tee.

How funny would it be if McDavid rushes back to chase his precious regular season hardware, only to make whatever it is worse and then miss the playoffs (which would probably only last 4 or 5 games)?

He needs that 100th assist, after all.

The conundrum is rather poetic, actually. What does connor want more? The milestone or health for the playoffs?

His entire career is individual accolades but little to no team success (a stacked World Junior team notwithstanding).

When does down go brown publish how amazing Kucherovs 100 assist season is? Because everyone was fawning over it with McDavid.

Speaking as an oilers fan staples is an idiot, in everything he writes and does. This is no exception.

Are they going through these teams in the playoffs?:
Anaheim, Arizona, Chicago, Detroit, New Jersey, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Washington, or Montreal.
Well you can move Arizona to the upper group

It's hilarious that Kucherov is going to hit 100 assists first and McDavid won't (shouldn't?) even be on the finalist list for the Hart (how can it not be Kucherov, McKinnon and Matthews?)

All season long I’ve heard how important that 100 assist mark was. When Kucherov gets it, especially if ahead of McDavid, it will suddenly be “meh”. or they will look at games played as an excuse.

Yeah, it's going to be hilarious watching them walk back the historic greatness of it.

The only player that can compete with Connor McDavid is Connor McDavid himself.

All but guaranteed that all the Oilers hacks will put McDavid first on their ballot until he leaves for another team. So with them pumping his tires I wouldn't count out McDavid being top three... They may not even have Mackinnon, Kucherov, and Matthews in their top three... Just to give McDavid a better chance.

Id take kucherov over McAvi any day. I watched the all star game with my kids and they were ripping on kucherov for not trying at all and stunbling around like he waa drunk. I had to point out thats what winners look like. They dont care for trivial things. Compare that to MaAvi doing cart wheels and kissing babies at the ASG.

The only writer who can compete with David Staples is David Staples himself.

What a versatile meme.... The only [random] who can compete with [Oiler] is [Oiler] himself.

This is a Staples article from April 7 3023, where he essentially states that the only team that can beat the Oilers is the Oilers.
