Junkyards, Landfills and Marlborough Mall are perfectly on-limits for them.

I'd just rip through on an e-bike and part the seas of idiot. Give them a few bell rings, but that's as much warning as they get.

I’m reasonably confident that overly restricting areas where protesting is allowed isn’t the winning formula that you think it is.

Saw a TikTok tonight, of 1 of these dumb yutzes in a Home Depot, filming himself telling the cashier that he refuses to pay the tax portion. Just FO, you idjits, don't take your paranoia & stupidity out on someone probably making less money than you are, who is not the government you're piddling your tighty-whities over.

Freedumb Convoy II: Piddling their tighty-whities
They'll burn the tax they'd pay on that transaction in their raised gas guzzler zipping around a slow moving minivan to a red light 300m ahead.

I remember when I was first starting out as a Tax Accountant, I had a guy bring me a 'Government looking' card that showed that he was 'Exempt from All Tax.'
And by 'Government looking' I mean, it was on a plastic card that looked like a SIN card, but you could tell it was pretty clearly home-made.
So I asked him: "If you're exempt from all Tax...why are you here to file a Tax Return?"
Of course. He wants his GST rebates and Government subsidies and Pensions.
That was a special brand of crazy. As to your story though, I just dont get those people.
There is a girl working at a cash register. Just because she's the last person you see before you exit the store, what exactly do these people believe her wild and immutable powers to be?
She scans the crap you've got, informs you of the cost of your goods, might bag them for you! And then tells you to 'Have a Nice Day.'
She is not the Godlike Arbiter in charge of all prices and costs in the store!
After seeing the kind of #### these people take from my time at Canadian Tire I make it a point, no matter how stupid, old or clumsy they are, I'm always nice to cashiers.
They cant do anything for you. They have no power or authority. But they put up with a lot. So...just being polite isn't too hard.

Excellent sentiment, Locke.
Past experience working in fast food restaurants, a grocery store and various pubs opened my eyes to the #### employees in those roles endure.
I’ve been held personally accountable for the crappy Irish punt/pound exchange rate, the price of beer and the need to put a coin in to get a shopping trolley (which you got back upon return). The vitriol was unreal. I remember it well.
Just being polite goes a long way to brightening the day - especially amongst the least empowered in the businesses you deal with.

Was the card laminated? That's usually enough to make it official.

No, you've seen a SIN card right? It was just that except not embossed, yes children, the old ones were embossed, the newer ones aren't and they did away with them entirely a few years ago.
So it was plastic, had the border, had the type-font, but....look, I give our Government crap for a lot of things, but the spelling and grammatical errors weren't really needed for me to know it was fake as all hell.
There is no such thing as a 'Tax-Free' card and we all know it. One can adamantly disagree as much as they like. But its BS. I know its BS. They know its BS. Lets just move on.

I know. My wallet got stolen a few years ago and as I was replacing stuff I thought:
"Dammit! My SIN card was in there! Now I have to call the Government to replace it!"
And yeah:
"Yeah...we don't do those anymore. Thats just like a thing that we stopped doing. I hope you remember what it was."
