"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience."

I ask anyone in this forum, if you could get out of jail based on a
technicality, even though you were guilty, with no decision based
on cost, would you?

Absolutely.

I'm not one to suggest that she doesn't deserve to go to jail, but I don't blame her for being upset about it. I'd be peeing my pants.

Frankly I find the media treatment of this story horrible on so many levels.

For some reason I'm reminded of this monologue from Craig Ferguson.

Chances are I wouldn't be in that situation. If I were, i'd serve the time that was given me. Besides if one can't do the time one should not do the crime.

We live in a society where no one wants to take responsibility for their actions. And in this case I have zero sympathy for Paris. She made some bad choices and should be woman enough to do her time.

It's not about sympathy its about what you would do to avoid jail.

And most of us would do pretty much anything.

I understand that. I was merely using Paris as an example of someone who crys out for sympathy because she can't do house arrest as opposed to jail time. Of course most would do anything to avoid jail. I just don't agree with that attitude.

Sure but I also doubt this is a rare thing - having someone screaming as they are hauled off to the clink.

I'd probably cry out for my mom too. I'm not even sure she's crying out for sympathy - I think she's crying out because she's going jail and is scared out of her mind.

Screaming to mom how it isn't fair sounds like a sympathy cry to me.

She should be scared. Jails and prisons are not supposed to be country clubs where people do their time. Hopefully it wakes her up and causes her to re evaluate her life. Somehow I doubt that will happen.

You wonder if all of this was carefully calculated by her handlers to keep her in the news.

I don't care about sympathy for Hilton.

I just don't think that anyone, that includes Dion, would actually
do the time. Everyone would take any loophole and walk out,
especially if they didn't have to worry about cost.

Dion, you may say you would take the moral high ground, but when
the prosecutor on the other side does not, and tries to get you the
maximum time, you'll do most anything to get out of it.

Jimmy Fallon: We just want to find out about you - Paris Hilton. Okay. So, your family - I don't know if a lot of people know it - the Hiltons - they own hotels all over the world, right?

Paris Hilton: Yes, they're in New York, London, Paris..

Jimmy Fallon: Oh, wait - so there actually is a Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: Yes, there is.

Jimmy Fallon: [ his set-up secure, begins the "real" interview ] Is it hard to get into the Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: Actually, it's a very exclusive hotel - no matter what you've heard.

Jimmy Fallon: Uh, I-I-I hear the Paris Hilton is very beautiful.

Paris Hilton: I'm glad that you've heard that.

Jimmy Fallon: Uh.. do they allow double-occupancy at the Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: No.

Jimmy Fallon: Is the Paris Hilton roomy?

Paris Hilton: It might be for you.. but.. most people find it very comfortable.

Jimmy Fallon: Well, I-I-I-I'm a VIP, alright? I might need to go in the back entrance.

Paris Hilton: It doesn't matter who you are - it's not going to happen.

Jimmy Fallon: Okay, now, uh.. I throw a lot of events. Uh, do they have a ballroom there?

Paris Hilton: We do.

Jimmy Fallon: Great! I'd love to have my balls held by the Paris Hilton. It sounds awesome! I'd actually like to, uh.. I'd like to check in to the Paris Hilton.

Paris Hilton: I don't think you can.

Jimmy Fallon: Really? Because.. really.. I'd only be able to stay there, like, a minute - minute and a half, or something.. two minutes, tops. I mean --

Paris Hilton: Good luck.
