For those that don't click the link:
3 goals in their 1-0 series game
2 goals in their 2-1 series game
Game winner in the 3-1 series game
Forced OT in the 3-2 series game (but lost)
Goal + 2 assists in the 4-2 series winning game
That's a heck of a series

I completely understand why some would suggest that Jarome might be hinting to the Flames to not draft Tij due to the enormous pressure Tij would have, but I think people are projecting a bit their own feelings on this, if this were them or their son. We're not wired like these elite athletes. They thrive in pressure situations and the tremendous pressure Tij would undoubtedly be under might be something Tij himself wants and welcomes.

Failing a top 2 lottery pick, I want Tij the most out of all the available players in the range. I just feel like Iginla will be the best player from this draft. We can bottom out more if we don't pick a center and get a good Center or D man in the next few drafts.

Really, there isn't any point in trying to get inside his head. Maybe he doesn't want the added attention that Jarome's legacy would bring, but maybe he doesn't care, and perhaps he even welcomes it. I am sure the Flames have a better read on that than anyone and would do the appropriate thing.
One thing is for sure though, he would be adored by the fanbase immediately and I think they would be pretty forgiving. The name might carry more pressure, but it also carries a lot of goodwill.

Ya, I really can't envision a Flames fan harassing Tij online or in person, and if they did they'd have 50 people down their throats immediately. Calgary is a hockey market, but people have always treated the players pretty respectfully

In person, yes. On sites like this? Noooooope.

Players, staff and media really shouldn't let what they read on message boards influence how they feel in any way. It's mostly just people airing their intrusive thoughts and unfiltered reactions under the guise of anonymity where there are no consequences.
In real life? Huberdeaus biggest critics here wouldn't have the stones to approach him face to face and tell him he's bad at his job. In fact, I would be willing to bet that they would greet him with humility and ask for an autograph or selfie.

Exactly how I feel too. Can draft or trade for good centres. Not easy but not impossible. But having the opportunity to draft Tij? Once in a lifetime.
And he’s a great player. No brainer imo.

My thought process is they should draft Tij this year, trade Markstrom for a good young player/collection of futures this summer, bottom out over the next two years, and get their future C and D in 2025 and 2026.

I've heard directly from players in the past that the fans here in Calgary are great; generally respectful to players outside the rink, and friendly out and about at events, on 17th, etc. There's other markets where that wouldn't be the case.

Well, it was on line being discussed. I know for a fact it affects relatives, and hockey players aren't immune to emotions. It's easy to brush it off and say they should have thick skin, but life odesn't work that way.
I don't know if CP is better or worse than otehrs. I suspect there's limited membership in fan sites for, say, Columbus or AZ or the Preds.
Didn't Conroy say they wanted to avoid the Dave/Adam Lowry situation where they didn't want to draft him because Dad played here and they ended up regretting it? So if Tij is BPA I think they pick him. If he's not, they don't.
I had not heard that but that's interesting.
They picked Wotherspoon at 57. Kucherov went next at 58. Lowry went at 67 and Flames picked Gaudreau at 104.
I had previously heard that the Flames felt they could wait another round to pick Kucherov so they took Wotherspoon and then... oops! They then decided to take Gaudreau next because they heard other teams were interested too and they didn't want to miss out on both players. Something doesn't add up because they didn't have a 3rd round that year. Could you imagine if the Flames drafted:
1st - Baertschi
2nd - Kucherov
2nd - Lowry
4th - Gaudreau
6th - Broissoit.
Their 1st pick would have been the worst of that bunch!

Hopefully they land Joe with either their pick or the Vegas pick in 26
