I agree... But I think this match called for it. Especially with it being WrestleMania 40. There was always going to be some nostalgia bait. Surprised there was no Austin. I thought he was a lock.

Fun match. I lliked the us of undertaker as a plot device. Makes sense he would haunt Wrestlemania.

Great to see Punk out there as well. I missed if him and Cena had any interaction together. Punk seems really happy these days. Good on him.

Cole - "Oh my god its the Bushwackers and they're licking Roman's head"

Pat - "That's nothing Cole, the Brooklyn Brawler just ran in from the crowd and he was stopped by the Goon and we have an intersport brawl happening around ringside"

Cole - "Is that, could it be, Hurricane Helms just ran into the ring and confronted the Rock and asked him 'what's up with dat'"

Pat - "Can you shut up for a second Cole, Christy Hemme just came out of the crowd and she's sitting in my lap".

Cole - "mmmphg arga blah" He's being smothered by King Kong Bundy.

backstage HHH sits in Gorilla screaming into his head phone - "All right get Shatner and Alice Cooper moving to the ring"

Still fun, but made zero sense.

It kinda makes sense to me.

The Bloodline had a great reason to be there. Everyone knew they would interfere, including the baby faces who would want to stop them.

I agree I don't go over for over booked main events, but it was booked as Cody vs the Bloodline from the beginning.

Sure it was overbooked but they built up Roman and the Bloddline too much to the point where the ghosts of Mania past had to come out and topple the behemoth that is the bloodline and Reins.

Overbooked? Yep, bloodline sure was overbooked.

Gonna be weird having a fighting face champion after 4 years of Roman

I didn't expect two legends to come out but I expected atleast one. Even with Jey and Seth The Rock still made it a mismatch so they needed someone else to even it out.

I also wouldn't doubt we see more legends in the future. With the Netflix deal on the horizon and Hunter and Rock in charge they see $$$ signs on that same horizon.

Part of me wonders if the People's Champion belt could be turned into a "Legends Championship" belt. Kind of as a novelty for part timers. Probably a long shot, but I do think they'll be showing up more often.

Edit: Soon enough I bet main eventers will be paid on par with other top athletes. Especially considering the Saudi money. Rock alone got 20 mill for joining the board? I bet that kind of sum would be attractive to any of them.

The years that I play the WWE video game I always create a legends show on one of the weekly shows. I’d live if we could even get like the old Saturday Night Main Events like 4 times a year but make it a legends only thing.

They would have to be careful of a Jake the Snake Roberts or Scott Hall situation or manage any injuries, but with more legends looking fit for action well into their 50s and 60s it's something I could see happening. This is one thing I do applaud AEW for. They were able to get a great run out of Sting. I thought it would just be for one or two matches, in the end he was working nearly every week.

We're in an era where professional athletes are playing at an elite level in the once glory years (Brady, Ovechkin, LeBron). Why should professional wrestlers be any different?

Just pure speculation on my part. Mainly because The Rock has that "People's Champion" belt he's carrying around now.

Anytime I see Punk and Cena I recall the match with piledriver, that both guys set up beforehand amongst themselves, knowing full well they were going to get in #### afterwards from Vince.

That was a lot of fun.

As a fan of that era it was awesome to see those wrestlers.

But part of me actually wishes it wasn't Undertaker for that match, but all the guys Roman screwed with the Bloodline.

Jey, Sami, KO, Seth, LA Knight, and Cena were all guys that Reigns beat with bloodline support who are still over as faces.

Give me those guys helping out with Cena being the big return to confront the Rock and think the story might have worked better.

Reigns and Taker did fight but that was before the bloodline

I will say Roman choosing to hit Seth with the chair to tie the shield story full circle instead of Cody was genius booking.

It's what I think creates a wedge in the Bloodline between Roman and The Rock tomorrow.

Taker credits Dusty for helping him have a successful debut in 1990. More full-circle storytelling!
