So between the 2025/2026 draft, flames could end up with seven first round picks

Fans were saying that Tanev, and Z could get 1sts too.
Kuzmenko on a heater is probably comparable to Toffoli, who fetched a 2nd + 3rd.
Sharangovich is worth at least a 1st IMO, but I also expect Conroy to extend him.
If Mangiapane moves this summer then it would be for a lot less than a 1st. Best case scenario without retention is probably around what we got for Z, or similar to the Duclair trade.
As far as Markstrom is concerned, I think there's a 50/50 chance that he's our starting goalie next year.

Only Sharangovich is worth a 1st right now

Mangiapane for a 5th would be a W.

Keeping or trading Kuzmenko....tough to have an opinion until we know what he could be resigned for.
Given missed games and a one dimensional reputation based on time in Vancouver, maybe he signs for something similar or even less to what he is currently paid for a couple years.
Seems you would keep him at that point. Fun to watch, makes team competitive while we lose 5-4.

Goalies are hard to estimate. He can be worth anything from a 1st to a cap dump

Really enjoy watching Kuzmenko. Definitely has the skill set to be great offensively.

I think the guy has talent. The question is whether he can exhibit it here or not. Defensively I think he's a complete mess, but man...he should be standing in front of the net on the powerplay all the time.
That guy's hand/eye is pretty good.

If management is serious about a retool rather than complete rebuild then I don’t mind keeping Kuzmenko around purely for his offensive talent. He adds a dynamic that we don’t have a lot of which is pure skill. I guess it depends what his next contract ask is, but I have no issues with him sticking around.

I’m impressed. You don’t score 39 without special skill

I'm not taking a shot at him, he does have a lot of skill, but the most likely contribution is that he will be this rebuild's Valeri Bure. Good guy to fill the roster with but not instrumental in changing the teams fortunes.

I think just freeing up Mangiapane’s cap space is the prize.

Who is asking for him to a franchise player?
That player is currently not on the team. Not even the 10.5M guy.

And might never be. Just because you’re collecting magic beans doesn’t mean you’re going to get a bean stock. The only thing it guarantees is that you won’t be competitive in the present.

Agreed. I don’t think we even have that guy yet.
I’m just saying expectations should be set accordingly for what some of these guys are and what it means for team success.

Personally I think we have enough guys that can play defense and never score goals. We don’t really need anymore of those.

Couldnt agree more. Dont overpay him, and if you get a good offer, probably take it. But if its reasonable? The guy's got talent. And I like his attitude.

Right now? I think we take all the talent anyone will give us.
Because honestly? At the moment this group looks like a Sutter-esque team of muckers and grinders for the foreseeable future and Huberdeau is expensive and entirely useless if he doesnt have talented shooters to dish to.

Florida likely will be in the 20-30 range next year so it's not going to be an issue. I look forward to the day the conditions from deal that can be put to bed and hope that's the end of the complaining.
In the mean time it's good to see Kuzmenko looking confident again and playing better. Conroy comment about focusing on what he can do on after hours will hopefully let the Flames build up his value for next year. But I'm sure you'll find a correction to make...

We'll relitigate it again in 4 years when they rush the rebuild and pay another pick to dump the last year of Kadri

Did we go on a run in 2028 at least?
