If only TK could maintain this level of composure when he's on social media...

Just about everyone’s been waiting to hear what Khan had to say in response to CM Punk’s “negative bull####” comments earlier this week where he stated that Tony is “not a boss” and AEW is “not a real business.”
Not surprisingly, the first question the media had for Khan was about those remarks. Here is how Khan addressed the situation:
“No, I’d prefer not to talk about that. I think I’d really rather focus on the card and Supercard of Honor, but thanks for asking. I do appreciate you asking, and there’s plenty of interesting things we could talk about here. Is there anything else you’d want to talk about?”

His promos as a heel were corny too, it just worked in Japan.

True. His best character work in AEW was probably when he had Callis as his mouthpiece.
EDIT: I also put Seth Rollins in the same boat. Dude is corny as hell, but it's forgiven because he's a great worker.

Rollins and Omega are very good comparables.

I'm not even sure it's that. I think people are just sick of him. He had a good run of being able to reinvent himself for a few years but now it all just feels very tired.

Cody thing is wild
People were begging for a heel turn before he left
Hes been great, but I do think in hindsight the pec injury was a huge blessing for him, going out and doing that match and then more time off cemented him when he returned

Omega has some great stuff too. Its just a majority of their stuff comes off awkwardly.
There was no chance Rollins was keeping up with Punk and MacIntyre in that promo battle. If they'd let him try and carry it the same way those two had, it would not have been as effective. He was a phenomenal foil and they cast him well there.
Omega is actually at his best when just being himself.

Quarter hours from Dynamite this week:
Quote:
1. 933K / .025 - Copeland promo; Ospreay v. Hobbs
2. 761 / .023 - Hobbs v. Ospreay end
3. 756 / .023 - Danielson v. Archer
4. 743 / .023 - Danielson/Archer end; Jericho/Hook; Shane Taylor; Billy Gunn v. Jay White
5. 780 / .025 - Billy Gun v. Jay white; Young Bucks/Best Friends back stage, Willow promo
6. 697 / .023 - Womens promo; Bucks vs OC and Trent
7. 711 / .025 - Bucks vs OC/Trent end; Thunder Rosa v. Mariah May
8. 655 / .021 - Thunder/May end; Penta backstage; Swerve/Joe contract
Overrun 708 / .023 - End of contract signing
|
Looks like the Bucks were involved in two segments that gained viewers (and were tied for the highest demo segments). Ospreay and Danielson both lost viewers. Maybe we can stop drawing conclusions from these things?

4.8 is basically child's play. I feel bad for the people in Taiwan though.

I'd go, if tickets were not AEW price. I miss the days were you could get cheap seats to these things for $30 or so.

Amazing if true, do you have a link by chance?
only took AEW coming to calgary in 2023 and 2024 to convince WWE to start coming to calgary again.
nvmd, found it https://www.wwe.com/event/monday-night-raw-25

I don't really disagree that AEW strayed from its original vision, but this is pretty hilarious revisionist history. Every angle Brandi put herself in was change the channel bad, and Cody had major go away heat by the time he finally left due to a number of terrible booking decisions on his part (e.g. Cody solves racism by having a mixed-race baby).
The best thing for everyone involved was Cody going back to WWE.

In covering the Rhodes’ 2022 departure from the company they helped create just a few years earlier, Vannini notes that Brandi — who served as AEW’s Chief Brand Officer — never thought they’d leave. However, she says:
“What I feared with that company, I was seeing before my eyes. When you start to see things drift from the original vision and… I’ve seen this happen before, then you start to (think) this may not be what we thought it was.”

Quote:
“That woman got hugely scapegoated and hugely just misinformation, and everyone knows who they are that was involved. If ever there was a moment for her to just feel like a princess and feel like somebody who did a lot more for wrestling, there’s many people working at AEW who, she was the one who said their name. She was the name who wanted to keep them in the fold when something went wrong.

Yikes, they really need to reinvent the Andre the Giant Battle Royale. I know it's an irrelevant match to get everyone a match before Mania... but it's completely worthless. Like everyone I love old fashion Battle Royales, and they could try and make it worthwhile. Give the winner a shot at a title, or some kind of payoff...

Amazing speech by Heyman, at times touching, at times blustering, but he held the crowd in his hand.
A nice moment for Bull Nakano who seemed to be genuinely touched. Was also nice that she paid tribute to Luna Vachon.
Really good induction by the Undertaker for Ali, but man when the Rock came out, the fans had to pretty much act like asses, even Rock was looking irritated.
Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham, some nice tributes to Bray, but man those two were dry.
Maybe a few years late for Thunderbolt Patterson, who went on a all over the play weird religious sermon, Even the New Day looked a bit unconfortable.

Alright, then I’m glad I didn’t get you. Because if you’re not in it for the grind, at that point early in your career? You have no business being here.”

Really? Saying you want performers who want to gogogo over guys who want to take breaks is on the same level as a wife beater? Really? Really?
What I don't understand is why is Paul taking a shot like this at Roman Reigns?

Referring to guys who don't want to run themselves into the ground like they're pussies is absolutely the anti-labour #### Dana does.
