Parekh is one of the best offensive D prospects in years but his defensive zone game is average. Think Erik Karlsson although I am not saying he will be Karlsson. Dickinson is a complete D man, he is great at both ends of the ice, think Pietrangelo. Again, not saying that is what he becomes, more of potential ceilings.

Dickinson is a safe pick but Parekh could be a homerun pick, Dickinson also plays on a stacked London team with a system that tends to make a lot of defenseman look good (remember Juolevi?)
Parekh leading his team in scoring by 21 points and the whole OHL in Dman scoring is ridiculous to overlook.
If Dickinson could be Pietrangelo then Parekh could be Makar

I hope we can draft a forward that's big like Tage Thompson, moves like Connor McDavid, scores like Alex Ovechkin, and plays responsible like Patrice Bergeron. That's not too much to ask.

As an aside, I like comparisons like this. Folks sometimes don't like making them as it overpromises, but most of us know it doesn't imply that it's a projection.
It just helps quickly understand a player's blend of attributes. Parekh leans high offensive output....say Karlsson and I get that mix of skill.

I really want a lottery win. Give me Celebrini or Demidov- both are tracking to be elite talents.
If we stay where we’re at though Tij Iginla makes a ton of sense. One of the highest risers in this class and one of the youngest. Elite shot, great one on one game, and keeps adding elements to his tool kit. As the games get bigger his play gets better.
Scouts put a lot of emphasis on development curve and his is looking beautiful right now.
I think he’s a slam dunk top 10 pick at this point and it has nothing to do with his name.
My "realistic" dream scenario would be the following:
Flames draft somewhere between 2-8 (lottery win needed and assuming we cant get 1st)
Flames acquire NJD pick for Markstrom giving us another top 12-15 pick
Flames walk away with a top C - Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla
Flames walk away with a top offensive D - Parekh, Buium, Yakemchuck

I have nothing against Iginla (outside of the fact he's a winger and the organization badly needs center prospects) but being a high riser guarantees nothing. Jonathan Drouin was the highest riser in his class to the point some draft pundits were putting him neck and neck with McKinnon as best player in that draft.

My dream scenario is similar except the flames come away with Iginla + either Catton or Lindstrom… and I think it will take a bigger trade (sadly, likely Andersson) to get a second pick in the range to get that so it’s very unlikely to happen. Would love to see two top prospects come out of this draft.

Well yeah nothing is a guarantee, but more often than not it’s a positive sign. Kopitar, Kane, Hischier, Giroux, etc

I would only say that Iginla isn't really thought to be a C at the NHL level. His game tracks to be more on the wing. Catton perhaps also may end up on the wing but certainly a higher chance he's C than Iginla. Lindstrom may be the most certain to be a C at the NHL level.

No that's fair, he's in the grouping regardless for me though and if his game is better suited as a winger its still a win.
I wonder if Jersey would do their 2024 1st for Markstrom (plus retention) + Vancouver 2024 1st? Is that too much?
I don't think there's any chance they trade their 1st for a retained Marky straight across.

IMO, yes. But people will want Mercer added in which case, no.
