I'm not really going to get into which is better, plays or movies or books, etc.
I loved the new movie. LOVED it. Crowe is not a great singer, but what he bring is passion and passion is what Les Mis is all about.
I love the story. Frankly, I dont think I've seen or experienced a rendition of it that made me think: "That was crap."
Because if you're an artist of any kind, singer, musician, actor, whatever, and you're signing on to Les Mis, you're bringing your 'A-Game.'
I get it, its all subjective, heck pretty much all entertainment is subjective (except for oilers games). I will agree that the newest movie is the best movie adaptation by a long shot. Taking my daughter to see the Broadway across America version this summer, so hopefully they can deliver on the last few years of hype I've been brainwashing her with.

Late to this one but Fincher’s The Killer was quite a mediocre experience to sit through. It existed and it was a C effort all around.
I know he’s beloved but Fassbender was an awful casting decision IMO, it never felt right throughout the whole film. With a different actor it could have been a relatively engaging movie. Perhaps it’s the type of film that would play better in a cinema and other people. I’ll still see what Fincher makes next but they can’t all be zingers

Guy left us all on read with Mindhunter to do that milquetoast ####.
Michael Fassbender returns to acting to work with David Fincher and Taika Waititi but does The Killer and Next Goal Wins.

I actually liked Fassbender in The Killer. Overall the movie was just meh, but I thought he was fine.
I was excited for this one but it just fell short and felt very familiar
Conor McGregor, stepping into his highly anticipated movie debut in Road House as a brash, maniacal antagonist with a defiant, ####### demeanor and one of the funniest gaits I have ever seen . . . So he's basically playing himself. And he plays himself well!
In spite of McGregor, I did enjoy the movie. It's not hard to follow, it's not complicated, it's light and fluffy for a movie about kicking the #### out of people, and it's easy to digest. I even chuckled once or twice.

So he's basically doing the Vince MacMahon walk throughout the entire movie?
The director is pissed that this movie went straight to Amazon and didn't get a theatrical release. I'll likely steal it and watch this weekend, I try to not give Amazon any money.

How? How did you enjoy this movie? It was a turd! The writing was terrible, like it was written by a 11 year old and it was just silly. One of the worst movies I have seen in a while and that's saying something.

The director is on crack. He should be glad this got released only on Prime because it would have been one of the biggest box office bombs in history, it is that bad. Combine that with the fact that people are going to see it expecting it to live up to the original which is an amazingly good movie and the director might have been commiting career suicide.

I agree.
Overall I thought it was light and fun and doesnt take itself too seriously.
This movie told you what it was going to be and then delivered that. Whats to complain about? There was no 'haute couture' to be had here.
"You want to watch some dudes beat the crap out of each other for a couple hours while they blow some stuff up? Here you go."
It is exactly what it said it'd be. Nobody is winning any Oscars or awards for this or anything.

On this note, I watched The A-Team (2010). Unironically, I had a better time than most Mission Impossible movies (maybe outside of 1&3).
It just leaned so hard into its ridiculousness and knew what it was. I don't care they used a tank turret to break its fall out of an airplane or the multitude of physics laws they broke throughout the movie.
They just seemed to have a great time making it and I was happy to go along with it.
I can never forgive the A-Team movie for destroying the van. As an aside, when I was a kid, I was always convinced the van was all black with red stripe. When I rewatched the series, imagine my surprise to find out it was gray above the stripe.
Why do you guys choose to watch movies like Road House? Clearly it is going to be bad, there was no scenario where it might surprise and be good, yet you still chose to sit down and commit your time to this movie. Why?

It's getting decent enough reviews, had a good cast and director. I don't think the original is a great movie either. It's a cult classic, but I don't think it's above being remade. Plus it's free/streaming, you don't need to hit theatres to see it, so it'll get a ton of views.
I did see Ghosbusters last night. Not really worth your time. I enjoyed the last one, and it was fun seeing the original cast back. Yet this one was a pretty big miss. I actually didn't know Reitman was out as director, and it suffered because of it. There was no reason to make this movie other than to cash a cheque.
I admire you guys being a lot more willing to roll the dice with movies. I definitely do not. I typically need a bit of buzz, some good reviews already circulating, or simply just have the name Nolan or Villneuve attached to the movie.
The Road House director did also direct Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Go, Swingers, and American Made (which is underrated). Obviously we're not talking Nolan or Villeneuve, but Doug Liman doesn't have many misses in his filmography.
Go is awesome, one of my favourite time capsule 90's movies.
