Alright, Marky and the Wolf. Its like an 80s Buddy Cop film.

Now we just need a talking Trans-Am.

With Vladar’s hip surgery, Dustin Wolf remains with the team on an emergency recall.

Per the team, Vladar’s surgery will allow him “the rehabilitation period required for a full recovery and to ensure he’s ready to start the 2024-25 season on schedule.” #Flames

One more year after this one. He'll be a UFA after the 24-25 season.

It could have been something that happened a while back and has just been lingering. Hip issues are often things players play through and then wait until the offseason to address. With the season pretty much done, he probably just wants to get ahead of it.

Yeah. That makes sense. They just pulled the 'chute on him.

Why not? No sense playing through pain or injury for this.

Yeah, the butterfly style is hell on the hips. Virtually every goalie needs to have hip surgery at some point now.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.

With butterfly goalies - almost seems like hip injuries are a given these days. Like pitchers and arm injuries.

Quite the contrary. It means he certainly won't be traded this off season.

Tough end to a difficult season for Vladar. I'd be surprised if the Flames were comfortable running with him and Wolf as a tandem next season. He's certainly talented and he gave the Flames some great performances, but I just don't think he's consistent enough to cement himself in the league following this contract.
A 3.62GAA and .884 save percentage just isn't going to cut it with a top prospect breathing down his neck.
