This is supposed to be a AAA, premier in the WORLD organization. Simple mistakes like this call into question their basic competency.
It brings to mind Motley Crue's contract rider when playing events that there be a bowl of M+M's with no brown ones placed in the green room.

Making a simple mistake that could've been easily Googled while calling for heads to roll over a simple mistake is some delicious irony.
Also, and this is not meant to be a knock on the organization, but in what world is the Flames (or CSEC) or any NHL group supposed to be a AAA premier in the WORLD organization? They're not even a public company and produce an entertainment product. I think the people in the organization are phenomenal, but to have expectations like that is absurd.

Do people that hold everyone around them to a whisker from perfection hold themselves to that same standard?
I'm a flawed human! I make mistakes! (I've called the current Gilbert, Greg three times this year in game stories!)
I hope to be hard working enough to double check things I'm doing and avoid the catastrophic ones.
But this need to be incensed at all times is simply beyond me. What's the point?

If they went in and there were brown M+M's they had their own staff go out and re-check all the pyrotechnics. Because clearly, the event organizers weren't reading the specifications, and the band could be killed by an errant firework.
If they are f-ing this up, it raises the spectre of what are the bigger things they are making a mess of?

You need to seriously stop taking hockey and the Flames so seriously.

Remember the last time there was massive overreaction outrage, like a couple months ago, something about the Flames PR statement on twitter and that being horrible for the Flames reputation...see nobody even remembers.

This isn't some obscure 3rd paragraph traded conditional clause. This is the signing of a player to an NHL contract - the premier hockey league on the planet..
The lawyers and agents working on this make 6 figures plus. Basic mistakes like this mean you can't trust them with the big stuff. Because clearly they are outsourcing it to interns or are drunk, or some other stupid reason.
Heads need to roll here. It's not as bad as Feaster trying to give away O'Reilly and our first rounders, but its total negligence from a group of people who are supposed to be the best in the world at what they do. I'm surprised that some of you seem so forgiving about it. This is the sort of thing that competent successful organizations don't do.

He could actually get a bigger signing bonus - there's a max for ELCs. He just can't get performance bonuses which are only allowed in ELCs and old man contracts.
But I suspect it's pretty close to his original deal.

This is the problem, the organization doesn't take things seriously enough. There's a reason we are one of the least successful teams in the league over the last thirty-four years. We're competing with organizations that are looking for every possible advantage, like hoarding players on LTIR to beat the salary cap. There's no accountability and any time someone makes a mistake, it is "no big deal."
