ELCs have maximum signing bonuses, they are allowed to have performance bonuses, they have a maximum total salary. None of that probably would have applied here.

So the agent possibly left undervalued him?

Kuzmenko signed an ELC as a 26 year old. Are Euros treated different in the CBA?

Yes. Their age is 28.

Could’ve awaited the announcement until the league accepted it. It’s not like there’s a hurry at this time of the year. Season ticket sales aren’t contingent on a Sam Morton signing.
That, or maybe it’s the league that changed their minds?

Wasn't the Feaster the one who then hired Conroy as a special assistant, thus beginning his management career?

The Flames hired Conroy, Feaster was technically his boss.

There was a lot of outrage at the move to demote Conroy the player in the manner it was done, similar to how Gilbert demoted Vernon back when. Organization stepped in and kept Conroy on.

			"Embarrassment" eh?
Woof. I've been there. That's called a toxic level of perfectionism.

Here on planet earth we don't have to go straight to seppuku over a minor mistake that will be corrected the next day. Every one at every level is prone to them. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

exactly this, sure it's not a big deal in the end, but it's a bit strange that whoever was writing up (or copy/pasting) the contract wasn't aware of the age condition. It's a tiny bit embarassing for the org, that's all. It'll get fixed and no one will remember.

It seems maybe there was confusion with the birthday being after the signing season starts (July 1) but before the playing season starts (Sept.).

Ken King is the one who told Conroy you can't win any rings in the media. But you can working for NHL teams in the front office.
