Another 30 to 50 millimetres of rain this afternoon for Airdrie and Calgary.
|
Sounds like it's going to be the northern part of the city that gets the brunt of it.
Is anybody down south- Like McKenzie or Sundance? (I'm looking at you Shane, Mr. "I'm not going into work today.") I'm just wondering how badly it's raining down there.
It just dawned on me that I could have some flooding issues as I've just dug the trench for the electical for my garage.

??? If you're going to complain about poor planning, 14th st. S is not much of a culprit.

Ken,
It's been coming down pretty good all morning. See, it's a good thing I decided to turn back so that I could answer that for you.

72.4 mm of rain was dumped on Calgary last night. The previous one day record was 36.6 mm, set in 2005.
Out here in High River we are getting light rain. I also went and had a look at the Highwood river. Hasn't risen much since yesterday. The good news is the Foothills didn't get much rain, so it looks like me might dodge another bullet in regards to flooding. I don't need another sewer backup like the one I had in 2005.

Looks like my sarcasm meter is up a little too high. I didn't realize you were actually thanking the city planners.

Is that the record for June, or for any day?

Hey can one of you guys do me a favor please?
We bought a house in Tuscany that they said would be done building in July. I've read that Tuscany was flooded and that some of the houses were on fire? I hope everyone is okay which is the main concern but i'm also worried that my house may have damage. It's on Tuscany Estate Rise, any word how bad the damage is on that street? I'm in Fort McMurray right now for a few weeks so can't drive down but will be moving into that Tuscany house when it's done building in early August when I get back from California.

A buddy of mine lives 3 blocks away. I just called him to confirm, and yeah, his house is fine, as is most houses. One house in Tuscany caught fire due to a lightning strike, and a few people have water in their basements. A consideration is the southern part of Tuscany is on a good slope, so it's not like water will pool up there.

on the positive side. The road i live on is sloped, and all the rocks the street sweepers left behind last week are now gone.
