The Giedi Prime sequence is described on a couple podcasts by both the director and the cinematographer. Super interesting take on their planet, and in creating a new technique to depict it:

Thank you.

I was actually referring to the animation of the crowd in the coliseum.

Thank you that makes sense, there are still holes on how they get pregnant women and carriages on them, but that might fill in when I read the books.

I remember someone here recommended Saint Maude, thought it was great. That director has her follow up opening this weekend, caught it today. Love Lies Bleeding.

Not a huge Kristen Stewart fan, she's alright. Same boring expression on her face and she doesn't have range but she's serviceable in this role. Ed Harris is great, creepy as hell. The movie is unpredictable and keeps you feeling uneasy once it kicks in. 7/10

I quite liked Love Lies Bleeding, and thought Stewart was great! I think she showed her range, and it's a role that asked much from her. Katy M. O'Brian was perfectly cast, and Ed Harris was creepy as hell.

It surpassed my expectations, and was very well made. I enjoyed all the 80s ascetics and the story was compelling. Like one of those weird (hard to believe) Netflix murder documentaries coming to life. Some horror and romantic elements as well, with some shock moments.

Other than Dune, it's my favourite movie thus far in 2023. I'm a sucker for a good crime mystery noir thriller.

Like to recommend a hidden gem, early 90s elevated horror film The Reflecting Skin. The basic story is set in a small town 1950s America, kids are going missing and a boy suspects a mysterious woman named Dolphin Blue to be a vampire abducting them. Thats the very basic story, but it it's so much more with lots of dark humor added, this film feels very much like a David Lynch film. It also has the most haunting score and it looks beautiful, and the best part is it's shot just outside Calgary near Crossfield. The director only shot during the magic hour just before the sun sets. This film was so gripping, it's a must watch.

Oh and it also has a very young Viggo Mortensen playing an older brother of the main character.

excellent recommendation.

I remember watching it late one night on CBC... this was prior to LotR, so Viggo was a nobody....

I was dumbfounded by the Frog scene near the beginning, like wtf, and had to keep watching...glad I did as it is a really interesting/enjoyable film. Not for everyone though as some might fine it a bit slow or "artsy"

I’m struggling to find the words to describe how bad Madame Web is. And yes I watched it and no I didn’t pay for it but I wanted to see the train wreck, you know? Dakota Johnson is a terrible terrible actress and somehow Sydney Sweeney makes her look like Meryl Streep. The movie has no discernable plot, I have absolutely no idea what it was about. They don’t develop any of the characters, it has the general vibe of a really bad half hour network comedy. It’s just baffling, it is truly baffling. The script is terrible, the villain has no motivation, there’s almost no action. Nothing is explained. Like nothing it’s like the whole movie just happens without any consequence or reason. Literally everything about this movie is just the worst ####ing thing ever. And then it ends with the clear intention of setting up a sequel and the ####ing characters are just so unlikeable and nothing about them has been explained or why they would become superheroes. Whoever greenlit this movie, whoever wrote this movie, whoever directed this movie and everyone who starred in this movie should be banished from Hollywood for all time. I would rather watch Spider-Man 3 on repeat for the rest of my life than ever watch a single second of that movie again.

Yes. Yes I do. Because I plan on throwing it on while I'm at work tomorrow. Because I too must witness the train-wreck.

Woah...those are strong words...

Okay, now I HAVE to watch this thing. I'm obsessed with really bad movies, especially if they're big studio really bad movies.

For movies aimed distinctly at very young children, the Paw Patrol feature films are actually pretty legit good kids entertainment. We did a family movie night for the Mighty Movie last night and everyone had a blast, even my 9 year old who hasn’t watched the TV show in years. Just fun, light hearted, good action and animation, some good lessons. Obviously nothing mind blowing but nobody was ever bored and very well produced.

Have you seen Independence Day: Resurgence?

What about Moonfall?

Those 2 are probably the worst movies I've ever seen.

I've been morbidly curious about the Madame Web disaster, have watched half a dozen youtube reviews just mercilessly ripping it apart, very funny stuff. I've considered buying a ticket for a different movie and walking into Madame Web but I just can't bring myself to sacrifice a couple hours on it.

I can't believe something like Moonfall gets as far as being made into a movie. Like it has to be a rich person's idea of a practical joke.

Madame Web at least has the plausibility of people getting warped into thinking comic book movie=profit. Moonfall is just.....yeah I dunno.

To me it feels like socially-disconnected Hollywood fart-sniffing.

"This seems absurdly stupid."

Hollywood: "Yeah! But we've Roland Emmerich, Patrick Wilson, Halle Berry, Don Sutherland for a bit and that guy from Game of Thrones that everyone liked! Trust me! We're going to clean up!"

Narrator: "They did not."

Quote:
A real astronaut was on set during production as an advisor. Whenever he approached Roland Emmerich and said "That's not really possible," they told him to roll with it because "it's just a movie."

Honestly? I enjoyed 'Moonfall' overall.

I think it really depends on what your expectations are. I went into that film, I looked at the cast (Halle Berry...come on!) and saw the Trailers and that movie pretty much told you what it was going to be.

It was going to be a pretty thin, under-developed disaster film with some very dubious side-plots.

Its tough to bitch about a movie that tells you what its going to be and then....is that. If you were expecting something else and then were disappointed? Its a Roland Emmerich film.

Was it good? Nope. Not even close. It was essentially a 'B-Movie with a budget.'

And thats how they sold it. "Ridiculous disaster movie. But we have a budget! So the explosions will be explodier! Oh. And Halle Berry. Every single person on this film is here for a paycheque...not for 'The Art.'"
