Do you often find yourself yelling "You can't take it out of it's wrapper, it'll lose all it's value"?

Were you one of the first people you know to get gmail and then you felt all powerful that you could make people beg you for invitations?
Do you constantly tell people 'you know there's an easier (or better) way of doing that?' when they're doing something on the comptuer?
Do you have your IP address memorized?
Do you find folllowing t-shirt extremely funny -- "I hacked 127.0.0.1" ?
Do you tell your co-workers about all the dumb computer questions you get from your friends/family?
Do you like to give cutesy variable names in code? Something like
if ( user == jedi ) {
use.the_force()
}

Yes, and it's Star Trek themed as well.
Expendability- Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Ensign Ricky are beaming down to the planet. Guess who's not coming back.

I've hit my geek factor as I got older.
I don't read a lot of fiction, but I've gotten into the Legacy of the Force books lately.
I really enjoyed the wing commander books, except for the one based on the movie that was crap.
Just the other day I had the age old debate about who the better captain was in star trek, and it broke down into a drunken debate on all the Captain's being on the bridge at the same time.
Kirk - "Ok, we'll fake a self destruct command, and then fire all of the phasers and photon torpedo's. Kill em all and let god sort em out later.
Picard - "Diplomacy is the way, let me talk to them . .. "
Janeway - "Screw that, we're going to negatively polarize the deflector array, while shunting warp plasma through the swarp nacelles. This would make a brilliant blue haze of inverse tachyons which will make the enemy thing that we're a cloud."
Sisko - "Let me get back to you after I consult every member of my crew including ensign Ricky"
Archer - "I'll be there in 20 days, because my ship is woeful, dosen't have shields and can only reach warp 5"
Kirk (shoots Archer with a phaser) - "Danger is our business gentleman."

I'm reading that right now too actually. I'm on Exile. It has seriously distracted me from the studying I should be doing for an upcoming midterm.....

I just finished Sacrifice, and I think the next book is coming out in Aug, and its called Fury.
Sacrifice really ramps things up in a lot of ways.

Searching up l33t sp33k on Google also counts for geek points. Actually Wiki has a pretty good run down of that too lol.
And as for reciting pi, 3.14159265359! Last digits after that may or may not be 585. I actually used to know like 17 digits, but this is only because I had to write an essay in Math in Jr. High, and I did mine on pi. Now excuse me while I lock myself in my computer room and turn on anime as I cry myself to sleep.

And as for all the TNG talk, I used to love the marathons on wintery sundays. Except when the Seahawks play.

That's not really geeky. More along the lines of nerdy.

I shall resurrect my geekdom by confessing that I am currently reading Warped Passages - Unravelling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions By Lisa Randall.
Wait, that's also more on the nerdy side, isn't it?
ps, so far, this book is pretty darn cool. That chick is SMRT.

Owned and Pwned
Owned and pwned both refer to the domination of a player in a video game or argument (rather than just a win), or the successful hacking of a website or computer.[2][16][23] For example, in a multiplayer first-person shooter game, a player with a default starting gun defeats an opponent carrying a vastly superior weapon. This would indicate dominant skill in the player with the inferior weapon, who outplayed (owned or pwned) the player with superior firepower. As is a common characteristic of Leet, the terms have also been adapted into noun and adjective forms,[16] ownage and pwnage, which can refer to the situation of pwning or to the superiority of its subject (e.g., "He is a very good player. He is pwnage."). Some people pronounce pwn as p'own or poon. Since the letter p on a QWERTY keyboard is right next to the letter o, it likely derives from a typographical error of owned,[16] and was eventually embraced by Leetspeakers as an intentional misspelling; however, pwn is also said to mean "purely own" (pwnage would be "pure ownage").[24]
