Great win. I hope Vegas misses the playoffs. The Flames likely can't be the ones to knock them out, but the Wild are 4 points back. Go Wild!

Nope. Want Vegas to make the playoffs and win the opening round so we get that 2nd round pick. After that I hope they crash and burn, turning into a perennial bottom feeder.

A large swathe of NHL hockey fans are also suddenly Minnesota Wild fans.

Ideally that 1st round win is 4 games against Edmonton!

Didn't get a chance to watch live, but caught the highlights.

I was looking last night and there wasn't really enough activity to fill an ATL, which is odd for a team like Vegas. There wasn't much on HF, Reddit, or the SportsBlog nations.

Maybe I should start joining the Discords or something.

The Flames take care of MTL tomorrow night and they're 2 back of the Wild in the same number of games. (with 15 to go)

If you looked at the schedule prior to the epic collapse Sat-Tues, FLA/CAR/COL was a tough trifecta to beat regardless of the sad scores that happened.

In any event, I'm in the minority who'd take watching an epic collapse by Vegas over a slightly better draft pick. If LA turns into garbage that would be great too, and it would give us an extra shot at a spot that MN or STL don't have.

Yeah, I'm that guy who just keeps hoping and cheering for wins and I cannot help myself.

Having a few things to cheer for (VGK losses/LA losses/Flames wins) for the next month or so is.....something at least.

Vegas and/or LA going 3-13 wouldn't be so bad either!

Gonna be cheering for Bedard to have monster games in their three remaining against LA.

What does Vegas' remaining schedule look like?

Too lazy to check.

Got flashbacks to that "Nice try,

I guess they might beat the Hawks, Ducks, and BJs for their 3.

So on the booing - I was at the game. There were a lot of boos. Though Hanifin did get a very nice applause (and a fair number of standers) in his video tribute.

I think there may be some who didn't like him basically asking for the moon and thereby forcing a trade and then limiting the return. But there were way more boos than could account for that so there are obviously a lot of fans who will boo any returning player (Monahan excepted).

It was nowhere near to what Johnny got though.

That's a mixed bag in terms of difficulty.

Not as tough as I was hoping it would be. But they're playing pretty awful and let this group steamroller them so feels like anything is possible right now.

Sure a guy like Cale Makar can do that, but they are unicorns.
I'd be curious to see your list of dmen who "take over a game".

You've got a group of amazing offensvie dmen in the NHL: Hughes, Makar, Josi, Fox, Dahlin. I don't think anyone is pretending he's in a group like that.

To me he's in the group that would include the likes of Devon Toews, Gustav Forsling, Mortiz Seider, Morgan Rielly. Really strong two-way defenseman that can anchor your top pairing.
I don't disagree Bouwmeester is a good comparison. But Flames fans also underappreciated him because they were expecting a guy to be more way more offensive than he was ever going to be. But he was still an excellent dman.

The stats suggest he's a very good dman. Your counter arguments are framed
in cliches.
You forgot Bruce!
