At this rate I think it's almost a guarantee that Lindholm ends up in Columbus. They will comfortably overpay him. It's a low pressure market. He has chemistry and familiarity with their best player.

It’ll be interesting to see how much Lindholm cost himself by not signing that Calgary contract, and we’ll have a number in July to compare the ballpark rumoured previous offers against.

Should make a pretty damn good cautionary tale to other players that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t be so quick to decline a Canadian team’s offer.

I'd waaaaaayyyyy waaaaaayyyyy rather bring back Monahan and right that wrong than bring back Lindholm.

He has never played with Fantilli.

They would just be adding another albatross contract to go with Johnny.

I'd personally believe Lindholm had zero intention of staying and the polite thing to do was price himself out of CGY. He's not worth anywhere near what his ask reportedly was and he turned down 8x8 minimum.

And then to turn in a effort like he did in a contract year?
Yeah, he wanted no part of it. And if I hazard a guess, he wanted out when he said he did last offseason before they punted Sutter and never really changed his mind.

Conory said after the trade, he knew back in September/October that Lindholm would be moved. Sounds like Lindholm had zero intention of negotiating, and his hardline stance was a polite way to say trade me. Even has to know 9.5 is a ridiculous ask for what he brought.

I ultimately think he ends up in Columbus as well on a 6 yr x $7M

Happy to say that Double K is pretty reasonable in comparison

Interesting behaviour to join another teams message board to tell them how much a player sucks, that your team covets so much, and had your GM throw a tantrum because the deal didn't get done.

I’m starting to believe that dgibb10 is, in fact, Mudcrutch/Tyler Dellow, as was speculated back in the other thread. It makes sense with the posting style, the insane need to show he’s smarter than everyone else. I figured someone THAT defensive was possibly a Devils employee. lol

It would leave them with about 22.2 million to sign 11 players or so, with Middlestadt being the most expensive. It would give them one season to make a run with Rantanen signed and would create enough room with Girard off the books for them to likely sign Rantanen again.

You would have to be looking at Ritchie, a 1st and maybe another prospect in addition to the two salaried players you are picking up. Flames might have to throw in a 3rd rounder or two to balance it out but the Avs (especially if they don’t win this year) look like a logical trading partner.
NJD would happily target Georgiev and Girard if they're being put on the market to clear space.

Using the same metaphor I view it more as:

Passing the final and finishing 5 courses (with mixed grades) while failing the midterm on a 6th course.

We can still pass the 6th course on the final though, but it's still up in the air.

All it takes is a team or two getting bounced from the playoffs due to crappy goaltending.

Very well could see a Markstrom trade at the draft.

I have zero idea what the Devils are doing, I'm not certain their GM knows either. Those goalie moves were lateral at best. Super confusing to me.

It's quite possibly he wanted to play in Columbus all along. I've wondered about that for awhile. He didn't play well with Jonathan Huberdeau likely contributed to JH problems and him not feeling part of the team from the start. If you recall Huberdeau was excited when he first joined talking about how the 2 of them would have great chemistry. Sutter was a factor, but Lindholm seemed to check out when Johnny left. It is all in the past now we don't have any of the players that don't want to be here.

I'm of the belief that Lindholm can still play, just like he did when he first joined Vancouver. But they found out pretty soon that he didn't want to sign there because he's probably got a destination in mind.

I don't think it's Columbus though.

I think it's LA, Anaheim, or the New York teams (Rangers, Islanders, or Devils).

If I'm not mistaken his wife did have a bit of a TV / DJ / Music career and there were some rumblings she'd like to be in a market she could better take advantage of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Anaheim takes a hard look. They have high end talent coming, lots of cap room, and he's the type of C that can take some pressure off the young guys like Carlsson and Gauthier as they enter the NHL.

Yeah I definitely got the vibe that he simply wanted to move on and was not going to stay for anything less than a large overpay. Would be interesting to know if he was just done with the organizan, city, or simply a case of another european player that wanted to play in the USA.

Ullmark’s NTC going from 16 teams this year to 15 teams next year is a bizarre little tidbit

The GM really grinded for that one extra trade option I guess. Total gamechanger

Are we sure that he's a Devil's fan and not Spurs? When the poster first came on and he remind me of Spurs and the join date lined up.

He just seems too comfortable jumping in and start debating with CPers ...finding ways ro put down the Flames as Spurs liked to do. Spurs also had a habit of ignoring what posters were saying just to repeat the same things over.
