Love the 2000's Count of Monte Cristo. Haven't watched it in a while I should again. The one above looks okay. Hope they don't skimp on the prison stuff, don't see a lot of footage of it there.
I like Miss Congeniality and I'm not afraid to say it.
It had the right mix of fun, serious and stupid and excellent action for me.
This film looks childish and dumb and I think its going to be great!
How often do Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt let you down?
Just to clarify, I didn't mean to make a negative comparison. I actually found Miss Congeniality to be very good. While it's not a film I've felt compelled to revisit, that's not a criticism in itself.

Intriguing. I loved the book and really enjoyed the film so...we shall see...
Oh wow.
Even though the movie bombed critically (not sure why tbh) I loved the american film adaptation from twenty years ago. For whatever reason, it's one of the more rewatchable films for me. Had the 2000s charm with a classic feel. And just an overall fun story.

I love the story.
We can all say whatever we want, but there are certain base instincts that humanity has and in The Count of Monte Cristo the theme of 'Unapologetic Vengeance' is prevalent.
Why do movie-goers love John Wick? Its not because he turns the other cheek. But adding in the wife and dog element was simple but brilliant.
And the way the Count goes about it is masterful.
Theres obviously a lot more to it, but as I said, I loved the book, I thought the movie was excellent and I cant wait for another adaptation.
The only real catch is in making a film based on source material that is so thoroughly popular that you can't really change it that much and thus people generally know how it ends.
So you have to make a film that hooks people. It can be done, lets see if they can manage it.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Yeah I don't really see a point of a Crow remake. It kind of inevitably means changing the good parts (soundtrack, visual aesthetic, atmosphere) and keeping the kinda bad parts (plot, lore).
It's like remaking the Breakfast Club or something. What's good about Crow is that it's a quintessential 90's goth movie. That's not something you can do again 30 years later.

I've got it now! People who bought Goth clothing in the 90s now have a surplus, so they've invested in a Crow re-make to bring 'Goth' back so they can sell their old 90s Goth apparel!
Its a giant conspiracy!!

Just doesn't look that interesting. He's totally invincible now? So he's going to eventually kill all the bad guys? I guess an evil sorcerer or hurting his crow will slow him down?
In the original, the crow was all John Wick meets Bruce Lee. He was doing all sorts of backflips to evade getting shot. This new crow just stood there while getting shot by a shot gun and stood up again. Where's the suspense?
Honestly just watching the guns go off that are pointed at him is sort of triggering in context with the original tragedy. I agree, should have just left it alone.

Yeah, it's essentially what you've described there.
It's in a similar vein, but John Wick does it on an elementary level. There isn't that careful and calculated, long-game revenge plot like you get in this story, which makes this enjoyable but where you don't have to turn off your brain entirely. Add in historical and adventure elements? You have the makings of a very enjoyable story.
Many of us have felt like Dantes at some point, done wrong and forgotten. Or some terrible wrong left unresolved. It might be the ultimate form of escapism, where the story scratches that itch we've all had at some point.
Guy Peirce was also the perfect actor to cast as Mondego.
