Fitzgerald bitched about that one too.
He's made offers on three starting goalies, and all three were rejected. But somehow you take his word as gospel in deciding where the market is?

My valuation of the market is based on what goaltenders have historically and recently received in terms of where they are drafted, the contracts they receive, and how much they receive in trades.
Fitzgerald was almost certainly speaking about 1 team, that has a GM who apparently isn't qualified to make his own trades without intervention from ownership

Yet none of those goalies moved at the price you (and Fitzgerald) thought they should have.
Since transactions did not occur at your valuation, clearly your valuation is wrong.
I repeat, Fitzgerald was talking about THREE TEAMS, not one. Craig Conroy had no say in Boston refusing to trade Ullmark or Nashville refusing to trade Saros.

In reality, Mercer was never on the table for Markstrom, just like he was never on the table for Meier. I remember when sharks fans were convinced they'd get Mercer+Holtz+1st for Meier

2 teams with reasons to keep their goalies (to help them win a cup), and then Calgary with their ticking time bomb that appears to have went off (0.878 since the trade rumours started)

I don't want you banned because you have an opposing viewpoint, I want you banned because you're an annoying a$$hole
Not surprised you're too stupid to figure that out either

Markstrom was never on the market. Fitzgerald tried to buy him but wouldn't pay the price of the asset.
Fitzgerald also tried to buy two other goalies who weren't on the market. He wouldn't pay the price of those assets either.
I'm coming round to the view that you are not only a concern troll, but an alarmingly stupid person.

Fitzgerald in fact did pay the price. Unfortunately he didn't know that Conroy didn't have the clearance to trade anything but a rental that doesn't want to resign.

Yeah, he was fast too, but took at least 2 months to earn his spot. This goober took less than two weeks FFS

No, he did not, or the trade would have gone through. Instead he went dumpster-diving in Montreal, and paid a fraction of the price for a much worse goalie.

Nobody could have known that, since it is not true. Moreover, it's not relevant, because these decisions are made nowadays by the hockey operations staff working in concert. The HO office of the Flames, collectively, gave the thumbs down to Jersey's offer.

Lol, Markstrom's their guy. I know that because when I google Marty Brodeur it still says he's employed there.
It'll be their 24 first for Marky full retain. Fitz saves a bit of face. We rid ourselves of this gobble dee goop poster forever. Everyone wins.

I thought we had established that the Devils never made that offer. Sources in the know say it was a protected 2025 1st, and I believe that was on the initial offer, which included retention.

You forgot the main reason, gets a rise out of Flames fans because that is what gets you off. If I ever get so pathetic I have to go to another teams fan board just to try and stir the pot for my own entertainment please shoot me.

Markstrom has been playing badly since the rumours started. The numbers don't lie (and this includes mostly games with Hanifin and Tanev).
Markstrom now has 1 less year of value.
Markstrom has now publicly voiced his displeasure with Calgary's front office/ownership.
Markstrom will now be entering his age 35 season.
More sellers will be coming out as well as a number of freely available stopgaps via free agency.
Convincing yourself that his value hasn't dropped is lying to yourself.
