Default 6 killed in Ottawa home

Horrible news out of Ottawa this morning. Heard about this earlier as have in-laws that live on the same street. Not a ton of details yet

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottaw...rest-1.7136366

"Six people including a mother, her four young children and a family acquaintance were killed inside a townhouse in the south Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven late Wednesday night."

edit: quote corrected for accurracy

Very sad news. Spoke to a few of my friends who live in Ottawa. Press conference is on now. The victims are newcomers to Canada, from Sri Lanka. A 19-year old male Frank D'souza (apparently Febrio De-Zoysa) has been arrested and charged with 6 counts of 2nd degree murder.

Edit - Also, to correct OP and the quote from the article, they confirmed that it was not a mass shooting, a gun was not used. A sharp, edged weapon was.

CBC said the person arrested is Febrio De-Zoysa, also a Sri Lankan national in Canada as a student.

Its sad. It looks like more 'Bringing Old World problems with you to the new world."

Holy ####! I just read it...I have a Sri Lankan client with that name and he was just in here this morning!

Ooooh....I hope they're not relatives.

Thanks, I was transcribing while watching the presser on TV. The officer definitely said "Frank D'Souza"! Haha.

A knife? So brutal, guy must have been covered in blood. How someone can look a young child in the eyes and murder them is hard to comprehend. Too bad the homeowners weren't PAL holders

When I read about this, I immediately think about the Greyhound bus killer. Maybe the killer went on a psychotic episode and was hearing voices telling him to do these horrible things?

He has an aunt in Canada that he originally lived with and she said that he suddenly became very disconnected and distant. He moved out and didn't talk to her after, and she didn't know what happened.

I also read that the father suffered some pretty grim injuries. He apparently had some fingers severed and may have lost one eye. I can't imagine the pain he is going through and hope the community comes together to support him. His is all alone, and due to his injuries, he may have trouble working with those kinds of lifelong injuries, depending on what his skills are.

I'm sure he's now being told to say these things. I'd be shocked if his defence isn't some sort of insanity. No one who is completely sane of mind could commit such a heinous act.
