I feel like people saying Apple+ is the best is some elaborate prank. I've had various free previews of it for well over a year how and the price of free is a little much.

Have you tried having better taste in tv shows and movies?
Ted Lasso, bad sisters, Silo, Constellation, Masters of the Air, Blackbird, Killers of the Flower Moon, For All Mankind, Severance, Slow Horses, Dickinson, Shrinking. I’m sure I’m missing a couple.

Haven't watched Constellation, it's on the list. Loved Silo and For All Mankind (despite the goofiness recently) Killers of the Flower Moon etc.. But that's a really small list. Masters of the Air is totally Meh so far, how many brooding hero shots of that weirdo Austin Butler do we need.
All in all you could make a similar list and more of any of the other streaming services easily.

Nah. As far as original series go, Apple sets a very high bar. Lots of the other streaming services may offer more filler content - I mean who doesn't want to watch Love on the Spectrum - but it's not exactly quality television.

I'll stick to recent series/movies since the Disney+ back catalogue would blow Apple TV+ out of the water but All of Us Strangers, Poor Things (added today), Shogun, Dopesick, The Dropout, Dave, What We Do in the Shadows, The Bear, Devs, The Menu, Welcome to Wrexam, Ford v Ferrari, Nomad land, Reservations Dogs, Atlanta, The Patient. Are any of those "filler"?
So yeah, no doubt Apple TV has a handful of quality options but it typically pales in comparison to most, especially the back catalogue of Disney, it's apples and oranges.

The Bear is Hulu
Shogun is Hulu
What we Do in the Shadows is FX
Welcome to Wrexham is FX
Atlanta is Hulu
I was going to say that only Hulu gives it a run for original series, but Hulu isn't available in Canada.
Disney+ obviously picks up a lot of other people's original series, which would make it a great streaming choice in Canada, but they don't make them.
So I guess we are talking two different things

Yeah. Got you. Just saying as far as original series goes, I'm not sure there is any comparable to AppleTV. Obviously Disney+ has great content in Canada. They just aren't the creator of that much of that content.

Both FX and Hulu are wholly owned by Disney, so it’s probably splitting hairs at this point.

I'm two episodes in to The Gentlemen and finding it very entertaining. A little quirky and different, but being a Guy Ritchie thing that's to be expected.
Recommend so far.

Add to your list The Simpsons, King of the Hill, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Mick which are all great to have on demand. My family is working it's way through New Girl currently (it's great, not sure why I missed it when it was on) and I think I'd like to see how My name is Earl has help up over time.

Futurama, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers... all the Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and National Geographic programs. It's not even close. I have both free right and Disney+ blows it out of the water.
Cecil saying I have poor taste than listing Master of the Air is just wrong. Offensively wrong. That's not a good series.

Disney + also has a lot of the “30 for 30” sports documentaries.

It ended much better than I was expecting, but The Leftovers certainly suffered from Lindelof-syndrome. In the end 80% of the hook lead nowhere and meant nothing, so the payoff fell short just like Lost.
Still, it was an entertaining enough show and I'd recommend it for the characters and ride alone.

I’d argue he fixed his lost problem and nailed the ending of leftovers. The ambiguity of the ending is beautiful. I’m still angry about the end of lost.
For the leftovers the first season was tough but the last 2 were excellent.

I'm glad that someone else thinks that Austin Butler is a weird person. It's kind of like they picked someone out of a Canadian afterschool show, and decided that he's the coolest guy in the world.

I'm the reverse. I thought the first season set up something interesting and supernatural to be explored, and the second and third seasons pissed it away.
There really wasn't anything ambiguous about the ending...
To the foundational content of the series:
That's not interesting or enlightening. It's just fluff we already know attached to a narrative context that doesn't deliver. Great, good, we have that in real life.
Tell me something interesting. Sufficiently explain at least a layer or two of the damn trifle you baked over the course of 3 seasons. It feels like the writers hoped you would forget all the little things they setup throughout the series when they had to bring the story to land.
I feel the same way I did after Lost accomplished absolutely nothing by erasing 5 seasons of intrigue with an artsy-fartsy final season that only left you with more questions. The Leftovers is Lost, but on HBO.
I guess I just don't understand the perspective of people not looking for answers in a series saturated with teasing a mysterious phenomenon. It ended more satisfyingly than Lost, but that was such a low bar for this genre.
To say something positive: the characters and their stories were amazing. Lindelof knows what he wants to achieve in that regard, and he delivers.
