Conditions on the '24 3rd would be based on this season's outcomes and soften the gamble for Fitz. For example, if the Devils have a miracle stretch run and make the playoffs this season then the '24 3rd becomes a 1st in '24 or '25. Conditions on the '26 3rd would also become a 2nd or 1st depending on how the next 2 seasons go for the Devils.
If the Devils ask for retention, or to send Vanecek back, then add on Casey.
Mercer and potentially 2 1st round picks. Sign me up LOL.
Yegor is good. To this point Toffoli has been better. We'll have to see if Yegor provides more value over the next year (also walking him right to UFA with a 2 year contract lmao) than whatever NJD gets for Toffoli.
It's a tale as old as time of a player with a career high shooting % scoring at unsustainable marks that he won't reach again.
Heck you've got 2 more of them on your roster in Mangiapane and Kuzmenko, still waiting for Mangiapane to get back to shooting 19% and Kuzmenko to get back to a consistent 27% eh?
Oh lord the Coleman one is gonna be brutal too. 32 year old with a career shooting % of 10% suddenly starts potting 17%.
Care to comment on what Jersey got for Toffoli now after LOL'ing the Flames 2 year contract for Sharangovich?
Tofolli got a net second round pick, and that's with 50% retention.
Perhaps you are the one over valuing your team's players.
For all the people that want Markstrom traded right now, myself included, I feel he doesn't get traded today. We don't know the Jersey offer but I'm also willing to bet whatever it is, it won't be better in the summer. When the dust settles and the season gets a reset, teams get time to re-evaluate. If the rumored offered from Jersey was a 1st or 2nd + Holtz, I don't see anyone offer anything as good as that in the summer. Just my opinion.
Again, the level of play in the OHL, especially today, is LEVELS below the NCAA.
If you have expectations even close to that, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
We saw Bruz against top US competition on the development team. He was the 6th/7th dman.
Fox dominated.
Then fox went to college and dominated.
Bruz could have went to Michigan, but was probably worried about being buried below Seamus Casey on the depth chart just like he was on the development team
That is just blatantly untrue. Div 1 NCAA has improved leaps and bounds the past 15 years but the CHL still holds the better prospects and hockey development in North America. The NCAA still has a long way to go before it’s seen as the better option of the two.
Mercer and potentially 2 1st round picks. Sign me up LOL.
You laugh, but the chances of the Devils making the playoffs this year have shrunk a lot. It's unlikely that they make it and if they do it is because Markstrom performs a miracle and saves their season, which is worth the 1st as the 1st would be dropping in value as it goes later and later in to the 20s.
The condition on the second pick could be drastic.. like the Devils need to win the cup in the next 2 years. If they win the cup, they won't care about the pick.
If they fail to hit the conditions, Flames get Mercer and 2 3rds...
I mean I don't expect somebody will over pay for Markstrom. If they don't pay now they will not pay during the draft when Draft pick is at highest value.
And I don't expect somebody will overpay especially Markstrom will not go what ever team which wants him.
So if there is demand and offers just Okay return and Markstrom agrees just trade him.
And we need our draft pick gets higher unto top 10.
Agreed. Trade Vladar for a mid/low pick and platoon Markstrom and protect Wolf’s growth for the next two years if that’s the best you can do for gutting your team, and risk ruining Wolf in the process.
I’d rather Markstrom get shelled for two seasons with Wolf getting more starts and more confident.
