It keeps coming out from somewhere they are after forwards. Unless its made up - when teams keep getting shut out of their targets, they often do something dumb.
Not saying they should do it or will do it, just tends to happen - you miss out on target A and B so you end up over paying for C.

I think any Markstrom deal now would have been dependent on them still having a shot this season. If anything, trading Toffoli signals they are probably giving up on this season and looking to 24-25 already. Just can't see them trade for Markstrom at this point, I think they are just going to reassess in the summer. Damn shame, but it is what it is.

Only way I see it getting done now is if the devils are so set on Marky and believe the market for him this summer will get more competitive. If he’s their guy, grab him now and avoid the headache in the summer

recouped the 3rd we used on Suniev, so if you want to simplify things, they flipped Sharky for a 2nd. Which is solid when you only consider his 22-23 season, but pretty bad when you only consider his 23-24 season.

I think a 3rd in the 2023 draft definitely holds a lot more value than a 2024 3rd, based on how scouts have talked about the depth of the 2 drafts.

A 2nd and a 3rd for Sharangovich and a 3rd, so yeah.
Right now that 2nd is 39th and the 3rd is 95th
Suniev was the 80th pick
