Vladar doesn't have a ton of value but he's likely not to be back next year, so there's that too.

Why wouldn’t they wanna run Vladar and Wolf in tandem? Vladar is still very young and if there isn’t much value in a trade let him split time and fight for the starting job with Wolf.

Both goalies aren't moving this season.

I guess maybe if Ullmark is moving, then maybe the bruins grab Vanecek as a backup? Seems expensive but not impossible
Ullmark -> kings
Mercer -> flames

I don’t think they want to trade both.
I think they want to trade Markstrom, and draft top-10 next year.

I know, but they were both moving in the crazy trade proposal memphusk was replying to. If that happened, the Flames would either need to take a goalie back, or call up Crazy Bacon Legs to be the new EBUG.

I think it's got more to do with not wanting to delay turning things around longer than they have to than it does with wanting to draft in the top 10.
If they can get a guy like Mercer in the deal that helps speed things up rather than hope whoever they draft turns out.

Right but if they’re not a bottom 10 team next year, Montreal gets our pick instead of Florida’s.
Sell out for the top 10 pick.
If the two goalies are good enough to actually get you into the playoffs, congratulations. If not, you get to draft top-10 again.
I know they want a retool, but they’re probably going to need more than one year of selling to add the dynamic young players they need to save them from themselves.

Whether they pick 10th or 15th this year doesn’t realllly matter. It’s next year and 2026 that they’ll be bad, picking top 10 in both years. Having a guy like Mercer get reps, especially at center is huge

I get that. It's been beaten to death.
I don't think that's why he's open to moving Markstrom though. He wants to turn this around as quick as he can and getting a good young player that's already playing in the league involved in a deal helps speed that up rather than just taking draft picks and hope they turn into an NHL player.

It's finally almost over..
The madness can stop and we can get back to our normal lives lol
Really like the idea of a three way trade but I don't think it will end up happening. If ever Markstrom is headed to LA or NJ I see it being directly to the team.

Are the Kings really in the market for a goalie? Hasn't both their ex-Flames goalies Talbot and Rittich played really well for them this year? Talbot even participated in the all-star game this year.

Talbot is a UFA after this season and 36, so they may be thinking ahead for a replacement. Neglecting locking down a reliable goalie can result in a team ending up like New Jersey this season... makes sense that they are being proactive on that front, especially with their team on the upswing.
Rittich is a good backup but nothing more imo.
Also your posts/day is awesome lol.

Sure, that makes sense, but why fix something that's not broken?
And last year, they traded for a goalie at the trade deadline (Korpisalo), and that didn't turn out too well. But we'll see. If they are looking to add Markström, what strapping young lad are we hoping to get in return? Who is their equivalent of Marcer?

Maybe not broken, but any team looking to compete for the Stanley Cup should be maximizing what they can get out of their goaltending. Markstrom/Korpisalo are not comparable, he is on another level. Markstrom is a clear upgrade on Talbot, more durable (Talbot is often battling injuries), so they'd be improving their team this season while also giving insurance that they'd have a goalie over the next 2 seasons. Don't forget Rittich has experience being Markstrom's backup - an underrated advantage.
Not too familiar with kings prospects/young players but I know they have a lot.
