There is only one god damn comp for Markstrom, and it was 10 fricken years ago.

 Ryan Miller (20% retention)
Steve Ott (cap dump - would never have a season afterwards scoring 5 goals again)

 For

Chris Stewart - A valued power forward at the time
William Carrier - recent 2nd round pick scoring above a PPG in the Q
1st round pick (turned into Jack Roslovic)
2nd round pick (a bust in Linus Nassen)

 Comps comps comps!!

 Now kindly see yourself out.

Checks game: Unreal chemistry with Huberdeau, great on PK.

Hope Toff lands you guys a good asset cause otherwise the Flames walk away from that trade laughing. Heck, they probably still do.

I would love to send Markstrom and a cap dump out of here for a young Carrier and Roslovic.

LOL - worse numbers? Sharky has one more point, played one more game.

How much are each paid? How old are they? What’s their contract situation presently?

They might get a good younger player - like a Sharangovich.

Chris Stewart was traded a year later with 2 mill retention for a 2nd (the value came from the retention).

If Ott was a cap dump then why did STL resign him for the exact same amount?

You can call Halak, Ott, Stewart a net 0 wash approximately, none were very meaningful assets.

But again, if you want late 1st+2nd round prospect+3rd for 1.25 mill retained Markstrom, be my guest.

And again, goalie values have only gone down as teams have gotten smarter

Honestly if Markstrom had 2 years instead of 3 his value would be higher.
I said it earlier but there's been very few goalies over the past 15 or so years to be able to sustain quality starter play from ages 34-36.
 |
But Markstrom is sustaining that play in front of a gutted team. Are you not seeing the same player I am?

I can understand you preferring other goalies to Markstrom, given his age, but your present valuation of him is completely disconnected from reality. This is backed up by a hyper inflated sense of Toffoli’s value and that’s where I see your bias lies. Anyways no more feeding the troll for me, later Fitz

Jack Campbell is available. Give Holland a call when you’re ready to log off.

Yegor is good. To this point Toffoli has been better. We'll have to see if Yegor provides more value over the next year (also walking him right to UFA with a 2 year contract lmao) than whatever NJD gets for Toffoli.

It's a tale as old as time of a player with a career high shooting % scoring at unsustainable marks that he won't reach again.

Heck you've got 2 more of them on your roster in Mangiapane and Kuzmenko, still waiting for Mangiapane to get back to shooting 19% and Kuzmenko to get back to a consistent 27% eh?

Oh lord the Coleman one is gonna be brutal too. 32 year old with a career shooting % of 10% suddenly starts potting 17%.

 It happens every single year
 |
Shooting percentages YOY

2020: 13.8%
2021: 14.3%
2022: 9.9%
2023: 17.8%

Goals above expected YOY
2020: 3.9
2021: 4.9
2022: -4.2
2023: 7.8

Looks more like NJ gave up on a talented scorer in a statistically unlucky year.

3.5% higher shooting percentage from 2023 to 2021 is a jump for sure, but it's not an insane heater like where we've seen guys shoot at 28%.

He's a talented goal scorer.

Wow of all the returning posters and flashbacks to previous years on the forum the Hanifin marathon thread blessed us with, I certainly didn’t think Tyler Dellow would rejoin.
Devils fully fooled by his snake oil, just like the Oilers before.
