Dater and a couple.other Colorado regional media saying all the players talk in the media of players not being good team players are a problem (Devon Toews and MaK made those).

Wow, if they ended up walking away from Holtz + Casey + 1st and end up with nothing that is plain foolish. People can have their opinions, but Markstroms value is not increasing from here. With this depleted defense he is going to get shelled and his numbers will drop. More options in the summer as well, Ullmark, Saros, etc.

This is poor asset management.

Even if you DO get Mercer.....that's gambling $95 to possibly return $100.

Sorry did I miss the fact the deadline passed already? Everyone speaking like this is done and Conroy is an idiot for not taking Holtz.

By the way I spent some time reading Devils fans opinion of Holtz and a lot of them seem to think he isn't that much of a player. So maybe there is a reason the Flames didn't drop everything and trade Markstrom for him.

Hopefully Conroy gets a call tomorrow throwing Mercer in there as it is actually the deadline tomorrow. Not today or two weeks ago when the deal fell apart.

Seems foolish to read too much into the fact that the Devils keep offering Holtz and the Flames keep saying no. Flames scouts are probably just idiots.

Certainly willing to debate it, but value is always higher when you maintain a slight bit of leverage on your buyer since they are under pressure from their players and fan base in-season to make changes to challenge.

In the off-season, that narrative is quieted by the return of Hamilton, a new coach, new system etc. I would bet almost zero chance this offer ever gets replicated, but you are correct it is just an opinion.

I don't see it that way and obviously neither does Flames scouts and management. I think Mercer is a significantly better player with all of his intangibles and his ability to play centre over Holtz.
